My first Bowie build............

It was a fun build and I learned a lot. It's just what I envisioned from the start.

The knife ended up being 11.25" overall with a 6 3/8" blade. It’s handforged and deferentially quenched 52100 high carbon steel from a billet purchased from Ed Fowler. It has a full distal taper, the spine is slightly rounded, it’s convex ground, it has a full tang handle with Sambar Stag scales. The slight recurve was intentional and I just love the look. The guard I left with an oil quench finish which resembles case hardening. It balances just behind the guard on the index finger. The sheath will be finished tomorrow.

Feedback is always welcome and I appreciate your time.

Very interesting knife. Not having a Ricasso gives the knife a sleek look. Cool that you can see the grain in the steel, did you multiple quench? I like the guard and the stag too. It will be interesting to see the sheath.

Nice work!

Thank you Steve!

Triple quenched as per Ed Fowler's teachings. I went for the simple clean look, a no frills Bowie. Perhaps if I tackle another I'll add a spacer of sorts at the guard, I really enjoyed this project.

Well done. I bet it's a more accurate representation of what a Bowie actually was back in the day.

Thank you Hengelo, I appreciate it!

Thanks v8r. The knife turned out really nice I think.

Very nice looking knife, excellent workmanship.

Thank you Scott.........I appreciate the feedback!

Geedub, you da man..........! Specializing in ridding Texas of the rodent feral swine.....

Finished up the sheath for it and got my mark etched. The etcher didn't work so well through that FC finish....

Beautiful job Gary, I can see 4 honest transition zones on the side of the blade and the grain development is as good as it gets.

Thank you Ed for taking the time to comment. Those are probably the cleanest lines I have had yet.....

Thanks Dicko, I appreciate the feedback.
