With 2016 being my first year as a maker, thought I would start 2017 with a big knife. Inspiration came from a Shawn McIntyre build some years ago I saw in an old magazine. It has an 11" blade from 1084, 416 guard and locking ferrule with a touch of brass and black G10 spacers. It is finished to a satin 600 grit. It also incorporates my new "coat hanger" handle design which allows you to feature file work along the top of the handle and at the back. The steel returns into the antler coronet at the bottom via a hanger which adds significant strength to the handle in the vertical plane and also protects the antler. The design also allows the bottom of the handle to remain in its natural, uncut state. Thanks for looking, criticism/comment is always welcome. Cheers, ICS

This after only 12 months of knife making:eek:

I hate you.

No, I really dont but quite an accomplishment:D

Great looking knife.

Innovative and not traditional 'pommel.' Kudos.

I might not have gone with that style of 'choil' but thats just me.

Damn fine job and you've moved to the front of the 12 Month Making Knives Class....superb job and congratulations on your efforts. [emoji106]

Wonderful job! What a blade of beauty, yet screams "use me!" at the same time. She looks like she needs to be taken around the block a time or two [emoji6]

That's a very nice knife and you did a fantastic job on the handle, very innovative design.

Man, I'd say great knife if I just saw it, good lines, great piece of a doer and cool treatment w that spine.

You saying only 12 months though!? That makes it really impressive.

Thanks BladeScout, really appreciate your comments, that's the great thing about knife making I guess, it's such an individual thing. You aren't the first person to speak of choil shape, but as I learn more about the craft, my preferences may change. Cheers, ICS

Nicely done. Bonus points for thinking outside the box.

Thanks i4Mark, appreciate your comments. Funny what happens when you start with a handle first and then build a knife around it. I enjoy living outside the box too. Cheers, ICS

Thanks Dawkind, I really appreciate your comments , it has taken me a couple of months to build, along with other builds and regular work so being a part timer, I am very happy with the outcome. Cheers, ICS
