Hello Buck fans,

I am new to Buck knives and wanted to just drop by and say hello. My Vantage Pro just arrived and I am pleased with this fine knife. The blade isnt evenly ground but no big deal since many other makes isnt perfect too. The knife is not perfectly centred but I think I can fix it easily. Best part of this knife is the super razor sharp blade.

The Vantage Pro wont be may last Buck and I look forward to a long companionship with this very EDCable knife.

Cheers to all and may the Lord bring speedy healing and recovery to Chuck!

Don't you have a Parang?

What part of Borneo is Sarawak?

Welcome to the Buck forum. You started off with a good Buck knife I have been carrying my Vantage Pro for over 2 years and it is a great knife. You will enjoy using yours.

Thank you The Longbow for the warm welcome. Yes, the Vantage Pro is great way to start with Buck Knives.

What part of Borneo is Sarawak?

Borneo is an island shared by 3 nations - Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. Sarawak is part of Malaysia in Borneo. I have a Parang and the Dayak tribes here call their Parang a 'Duku'. It is a great tool to work with.

Cheers!

Thanks.....I thought you'd have a Parang!

:)

And how is it that you are there in such an out of the way part of the world???

Or are you a native citizen???

BG, I moved here more then a decade ago and totally love it here, especially the outdoors. I'm working on some projects with a US based Disaster Response Network and Humanitarian Mission here in this part of the world.

Here are some other knifes and pictures of places I've been. I think my next Buck will be Tom Mayo's Neck Knife. :)

I'm so glad I discovered my new EDC, the Buck Vantage Pro.

Congratulations on the Vantage Pro. It is a well made knife. I really like the ones I have.

Borneo looks like it has some beautiful scenery.

Great pics!!!

Thanks......I can see why you like it there.

Looks like a place where you could use one of those new Buck Hoodlums!

Bullosa,

Does steel rust fast in Borneo? When I was with the Singapore Army humidity was outrageously high. Love the Kukuri.

Yes, humidity is mostly between 90-87% RH. Non SS blades need extra attention.

Thank you sir!

I think that you'll come to love that Paul Bos S30V it's awesome stuff.

Yes, I think so too. Cheers!

Bullosa,

As stated above, "Welcome to the Buck forum". How did you come by your new Buck knife all the way over there? Also, thanks for all your very nice photo's.

Thanks you. I ordered my knives from Roger at KW. We get very limited selection of knives here in our local market. Thank God for dealers who ship international. :D

Welcome aboard and thanks for sharing your photos. That off-centre blade issue is the reason I'm yet to pull the trigger on a Vantage of any sort, but it will happen one day I'm sure.
(BTW you should post that photo of the BK2 over on the Becker sub-forum, it will be appreciated for sure)

Hi Ozgooner, the off centre blade issue is a simple fix and there are many threads in BF on the solution. Mine is not perfectly centred but no contact with the liner. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/782294-How-to-fix-Centering-issues-on-Buck-Vantage-Pro?highlight=off+centre+blade+fix Go for it mate! It is still one great buy. I've encountered the similar issue with my ZT and Emerson and it's a 3 minute fix. And Beckerland is one of the places I'd visit and post everynow and then. Moose, Bladite, Guyon and Uncle Ethan did a great job to keep a warm camp there.

I know I'd really like going to Borneo...after a quick trip to the doc for vaccines and malaria pills. :-) Is the British jungle survival school still located there?

The SAS and British Ghurkhas still conducts their own training periodically over here though mostly in Brunei. I am not aware of any permanent jungle survival school here. There is one Jungle Survival School in Peninsula Malaysia ran by some ex-VAT 69 commandos but the best bushcraft skills and survival knowledge here comes from the Iban hunters.
