Hi all, I've been reading many post here and learning as I go. Thanks for posting your knowledge and not keeping it to yourself. It helps the beginner like me a lot. I just bought my first Buck today, a 2 dot Ranger. Is there anyway I can pinpoint the year better then 74-80 on these? Here's a picture, I'm new to photography also. ( That's a pencil behind the knife. It was the clearest shot I have right now. )Thanks for any help.

That was a bad one to start with because now it's just going to make you want more of them.

Hey MC60...
Someone with older than dirt knowledge should be around to help ya ID that 2-Dot 112. Great knife to start with! Where'd you get it?

And, as Azis stated, that was a serious one to pick for your first Buck. Awesome knife in what appears to be fantastic condition.

Dr. Dave may be by to give Sirus advice for what may be your new addiction.
In my effort to help you avoid addiction, send me your lunch money now...I'll keep it safe for you

Welcome to the buck forum, M-60!!
As Goose has stated better send it to him soon! I no longer have any lunch money, I'm down to ramen noodles and water for 3 meals- so I can have maximum $$$ for the Buck fund :D

Nice pics by the way!

Interesting 112...looks like it's had an exciting life! :D

I've had my heart set on a 112 for sometime but I was going out to buy a new 110 in the next couple of days. (my birthday is a week from today)

I think I got "The beginners luck" on this 112. I went with my brother to a gun and knife show today just to look around. I spotted this in a new style sheath. I opened the blade and saw a 2 dot. Thanks to all of you,I knew what it was. The blade was tight and not to many scraches. I asked the him what he needed for the knife and he said $15.00.
Okay, here's a 20.

So, yeah... I might need you guys to hold my lunch money. I can see now how this can turn into another money pit!;) Beginners luck indeed.

Hello M60 and welcome to the forum! Good to have you. :) It looks like there were 4 variations of the 2 dot 112 Ranger. Unfortunately, we don't know when they occured. I can say that it appears that yours is a 5th Version, Variation 4 with the larger inlay rivets.
I hope this helps.

I went to a gun show in Atlanta , GA this weekend and didn't find any old 110/112's. I have not seen any old 110 the last few guns shows I have been to. Think I am going to try yard sales next.

Anyway, congrats. Nice find!

Thank you. That was exactly the info I was looking for. Hopfully someday I'll learn how to ID some of these for myself. Thanks again.
