So, I've been interested in Bussekin for a while. I picked up a Rucki off the exchange a while back, and loved it. I was blown away by the steel, and just the feel of the knife/sword in general, and it was much more useful than I expected. However, I unfortunately had to sell it.
Well, when I saw the Combat Grade Son Of Badgers come up I decided to get in on one. I went with black paper micarta and muddy brown, not knowing how it would look because I couldn't find many examples of that combination online.
After a long wait, that actually didn't seem too bad, I was notified that it had been delivered. The problem, though, was that I was at school for the week. So I had to wait another week to actually see it
Finally, I got to check it out. First thing I noticed; it looks good. I am definitely happy with this material/color combination. Second, it came admirably sharp. I had heard some people say they come with overly thick edges that aren't all that sharp. This wouldn't have been a huge problem for me, as I sharpen knives and will probably put a mirror edge on it, but man this thing came truly "swine shaving sharp".
Sharpened by Beef. I'm new to Busse, so I'm not familiar with the individuals, but thanks Beef. Well done! (These first pictures are from last night, so they have terrible lighting)
Decided to put a tan paracord D guard on it, cause why not.
To by perfectly honest, I had decided before receiving it to sell it. I am in on some other recent runs from the shop, and will have to scramble for the funds. However, this thing just fits so well in the hand I couldn't help but use it to prepare an onion and garlic omelette this morning.
It sliced really well for such a robust blade. I am going to try to make a simple cordura sheath, hopefully with the same tan as the D guard. Here's a better picture. (In kitchen, so still not great artificial light)
Just an awesome knife, and I think I get the hype/cult following now, even better than with the Rucki.
