Started my "quest" for a hard use knife months ago. (Looking back, I guess it only makes sense I ended up hearing about Busse, given the "hard use" requirement.)
Found this forum, and started reading - A LOT. Months go by and I'm still learning everything I can.
Had pretty much decided I would buy a Busse - but which one?
Narrowed it down to a couple models, but the NMSFNO seemed to really catch my eye.
Spent a couple weeks getting frustrated while combing the secondary market for a NMSFNO. I just couldn't justify the markup on a pre-owned knife (please, no offense to any sellers.)

So I emailed Garth back in February and to my surprise he had blanks available! After almost getting sidetracked by the release of the LBTG, I placed my order through the Custom Shop.

Got an email from Lexi at the end of last week that it was almost ready; tracking number showed up shortly afterward, as I waited patiently :D . This morning a knock at the door and a signature later, I had my first Busse.

Garth and Lexi were great to deal with and I can't say enough about the whole experience.

And now the obligatory pic....

How does that work as far as pricing.

You would have to email Garth at the Custom Shop for pricing on the existing blanks. It was surprisingly reasonable compared to what I was finding on the secondary market. Prior to emailing Garth I had heard that the average is $100 per inch of knife and that may be the case with a *true* custom knife designed from the ground up, but it wasn't the case with a knife made from an already existing blank. Furthermore, I had also heard that the turnaround was close to a year through the Custom Shop, and this certainly proved not to be true with this knife (again, because it was from an already existing blank.)

Congratulations, the NMSFNO is an awesome knife, a true performer
Welcome to the club, strap in because the ride has just begun.

Nice first Busse

My first was a NMSFNO with a tanker grey blade and black canvas micarta. Stripped the coating after a while then hand smoothed the scales. My knife is a ghetto version of yours :o

Oh, we need more pics :D

great choice for a first busse, unfortunately I dont think you need anything else besides a nmsfno :(

Been looking over sheath options. Think I want to go with leather and I'm really liking the look of Chuddybear's sheaths.
That said, considering the handles on the knife are handfinished black micarta, should I go with black leather or could I get away with dark brown? (I'm really digging the look of the dark brown sheaths on his website.)

M67, I'll try and post a couple more pics.

Wow. So awesome. I am in the same boat as you prior to getting a NMSFNO.

I think I will try and email Garth as well and see if I can't get one of the blanks. Wish me luck!

...Stripped the coating after a while then hand smoothed the scales...

I really like the hand smoothed scales.
I can't seem to put this knife down, and when I do, somehow it keep finding it's way back into my hands. My wife is startin' to look at me funny. I wonder why? :D

Congrats on a great first Busse ! What a way to break into Busse ownership . Very nice indeed
