So I'm about to buy my first Busse and I just wondered if you could all very kindly help me narrow down my choices.

I'm pretty set on getting a team gemini but since I want a satin one I am thinking of getting the heavy brigade version from the custom shop.

The question is:

a) are the dimensions of the heavy brigade identical (other than the convex grind) to the light brigade? I like making leather sheaths so it would be nice if I could use that to test the fit for sheath made with the light brigade in mind as well.

b) The heavy brigade version is the custom shop one so it most likely will come with a smooth grip but which one do you feel is more comfortable? The one with grooves (like the ones on the light brigade) or smooth (like on the custom shop ones)?

Sorry Lexi I know you are getting back to me about a) but since the second question was more of a general opinion thing I posted it here. I hope you didn't mind :)

By heavy brigade I mean this one (sorry if I borrowed your pic):

Thanks for your help everyone! :)

I'm going to buy that blade. Right now...... Wait. What? Oh. Yeah. Idk about A), but with the handle, go with smooth if you plan on using it without gloves, machined if you plan on using gloves.

I think the lengths are the same.
The scales are not smoothed by default, this is an option with the custom shop.
G10 is not uncomfortable, it feels the same as Micarta.

The G10 handles are extremely comfortable in hand in my opinion as is the shape of the handle and I don't use gloves when using mine.

Lock...check out the Black n Tan G10 scales. ..or if you decide micarta, you can get the hand shaped Micarta. ..both are sweet!

Hand shaped g10 is pretty slippery. I like hand shaped micarta but if I'm getting G10 I usually get machined. It sure looks good though

Thanks for the reply everyone!

I'm leaning towards black paper micarta machined handle at this point...

If anybody has both the light brigade and heavy brigade would it be possible if you could kindly try inserting the TGLB in a TGHB sheath and vice versa so you could tell me if they fit nicely please?

If it fits nicely Mr.Busse you now have another hog to your drift!! (I recently found out that one name for a herd of hogs is called a drift. In the same way as murder of crows and parliament of rooks etc...)

Thanks for your help everyone :)

At Mashed Cat TGHB kydex sheats are suitable for TGLB knives. They are compatible. I plan to order some sheats and had asked Eric.

That pic in the first post is one of my best piglet pics of a really sweet feeling Busse knife. :) It was a very limited ganza offering that I have only seen two other Hogs post pics of. I need to get a pic up of it with her rougher looking fraternal twin. In the meantime here is a pic of the same knife with oily handles next to a CF TGLB.

Keep in mind kydex only fits in that one direction though, a snugly molded LB kydex will not fit an orignal (heavy) TG. Leather fits both fine.

Fantastic! I would love to see your heavily used tghb :D

Sorry for borrowing your pic and thanks for the info on the sheath!! :)
