Just received my Magnum EU17 from Scott (Idahoskunk). Great deal, smooth transaction.
I got her on Friday, and my impression in short: NOW I get it.
For a knife that's relatively weighty but built for ultimate toughness, my hands love it. It just FITS.
So I proceeded to make cuts on the cardboard USPS box it came in (a tradition for all knives with me). I did the first push cut on the box without holding the box to secure it's balance. So I was iffy if it would go through or just knock the box down.
This thing went through it like butter. Smooth, no sticking, nothing. I thought it was a fluke so I tried it again. And again. And again. Each time, same result.
I first heard of Busse's in 2002. I wanted a BME, but wanted to wait.
The wait was worth it, because I actually prefer the design of the magnum eu17.
And in all honesty, I want more busses.
So here's a serious question: what can I expect this knife to be able to handle? I know Busse's are famous for handling jobs that would be considered abuse for most knives, but breezing through them like nothing. Chop concrete? Batoned into frozen wood?
Also, what type of care should go into this piece? And what types of things should I avoid (like throwing it into molten lava)?
Thanks guys!
