I just got a Chestnut Bone CV in the mail, and I have to say, it is hands down my new favorite knife. This is the first knife that I have owned that actually has half stops, and I really like it. I bought this knife with the intention of not buying another knife for a very long time. I did that because I have been carrying a Rough Rider Peanut and have been really enjoying it, so I upgraded. I sure am glad I did! The handle scales are look better, fit and finish seems to be better, and it has half stops. I think I may just have found "my" knife. :D

congrats! enjoy it!

i've been meaning to pick up a peanut with the yellow handles for awhile now. i just can't take the leap due to the size. all the ~3" pocket knives i've had i never liked, except one, but that was because the stag is thick so it fits good in the hand.

oh and you should post some eye candy ;)

I might try to post some pics. Anyway, you should go ahead and try out the Peanut! The curves of the knife just fit really well in your hand.

Ok, upon further inspection, I noticed that my knife has vastly different colored handle scales. On one side, the side with the shield, it is a pretty light color, while the opposite side is very dark. Should I send it to Case? I'll try to post pictures if possible.

It's not an unusual situation (I have several Case knives like that). It's only a problem if it bothers "you". I'd probably not send it in unless it was really a problem I couldn't live with.
(Heck, I've even got customs with mismatched scales.)

Thanks for responding! The only other complaint I have is where the "main" pin is, on the side with the shield, there is a slight chip next to where the pin is. And on the other side, there is a "line" in the scale, it is a little deep and maybe 1 centimeter long or so. O well I guess it's not a very big deal, maybe I am just hard to please.

Just for kicks and giggles, did the RR have these FnF issues?
Also, do the RR Peanuts not have half stops?

My Rough Rider does not have half stops. It's scales match in color, but the "checking" on the gunstock bone is not perfect. either way, it's no big deal.

I have my first Case Peanut on the way. Yellow Derlin and SS blade, I know CV is the way to be. but I already have a Northwoods Peanut in D2 so I though a stainless one would be nice.

Truth be told, I like when knives have funky mis-matched handles (within reason, of course). I makes the knife unique. I don't want bone to look too perfect, like delrin. YMMV.

I look at it this way. If a knife is perfect it makes me not want to use it for everyday tasks. It is like I want it to remain in that perfect state. Now if there is a few flaws here and there the knife just begs to be used!

You can't go wrong with a peanut especially one in Chrome Vanadium even though I don't carry it to often any more I realy love my CV yeller Derlin peanut every time I use that knife it's like stepping back in time.

I like that. I have enough knives at this stage of the game. If I get one that is too perfect, I am reluctant to use it. I am a user, not a collector, so I don't like it when I think I have on too pretty to carry.

And some of the knives I have that show "character" that are used well, show even more "character" later which makes me like them even more.

Yeah, It's not that big of a deal, and it does make my peanut unique. I'm just gonna carry it, keep it, and use it.

I think that's the best choice. I hope you enjoy it and that it serves you well.

Thank you. Lets see how long I can carry this thing before getting the urge to carry something else. I hope that this will become that "one" knife that I will always carry.

Rough Riders are great users, even tho I don't really like to purchase Chinese knives, if you're broke, they are great. Anyway, I just cut up a bunch of strawberries with my Peanut to get a patina going so it wouldn't try to rust on me, and it now has a bunch of lines running through the patina almost like cracks in the finish, if it were a finish. It's not a big deal at all, I'm just curious as to why did that happen?

I seem to remember my yellow CV doing the same thing... Not sure why though.

It is sort of annoying, but not a very big deal. I really would like to know why it happened. Here's exactly what I did, Cut up strawberries for 10-15 minutes, washed the blade off and went to do something else. Came back, and did the same thing for 10 more minutes. That's all. So why does my blade look sort of funky?
