Today i received two peanuts, and a medium stockman, which resides now in my pocket.
The ss peanut main blade, in bermuda green bone, is not as springy, or very springy, in opened position as the others peanut blade, in CV, but i guess it will be better in time, with use, as the joints become smoother. Don't like this very much, mainly because the ss one was supposed to be a gift to my wife.
So far i like those little knives, and ill return with more thoughts after carrying and using them for a while.

I've had two different peanuts and the same stockman; they're great little knives! You did well!

Ive lubed well the joints of the SS peanut with some wd 40, then cleaned it, and applied some mineral oil, opened closed it a few times, and the opened position is now a lot better. Cleaned it nice and put it back in the box, for my wife.
Haven't used my CV peanut yet, as im too fond of the stockman, which got some use today, opening a few packages and cut some strings with the sheep foot blade.
I think i found a new love, for the american traditional knives, thanks all.

Nice selection for first time case's.

I'll be curious if in time the peanuts don't get more pocket time.

Carl.

All nice knives but I must admit to being partial to that classic yellow 3318. Just a great knife and a nice size for EDC.

Congrats, you'll find that not to many knives are more carry friendly than a Case Peanut.

i second blues the yeller medium stockman is one of my faves too, its almost always in my pocket, excellent size too
Nice Score

Great scores! The little stockman is one of the best patterns that case make. As for the Delrin handles........Just perfect.:)
Enjoy!

Great looking knives you got there. I have a few of each.

I bought an older (1985) medium Stockman a while back from a seller on the bay to be a user. He said it was new, had stainless blades and was in perfect shape. When I got it it was horrible. Dull as a butter knife, the sheepsfoot blade looked like someone had tried to sharpen it with a dremmel tool and kept slipping, nothing opened or closed smooth and it was CV (not that that's bad, it just wasn't what I was expecting).

Well, I love the stockman pattern, so, I was determined to make it work. So, I sharpened it, slathered the blades in mustard to give it a little patina and then cleaned it with soap and water. Then I blew out the water with canned air and lubed it. Now, I carry it all of the time.

Peanuts seem to be a very popular little knife around here... and with good cause, no doubt. :)

I received two Peanuts in the mail yesterday myself. A yeller CV to match my Pen and a pocket worn Harvest Orange SS to match my small toothpick.

Great little knives. They're a little smaller than I had pictured but that's not at all a bad thing. I noticed the exact same issue with mine as I almost got bit trying to open my Harvest Orange 'nut for a couple (crappy) pictures. I wasn't expecting the half stops as my Pen knife doesn't have them and also both of them seem to be a real bear to open. I had the clip blade half open and was attempting to open the pen blade and when it finally gave...I came real close to slicing myself. I'll take your advice and add a little FP-10 gun oil and try working the joints. Hopefully they'll loosen up.

[EDITED to add]

Now i'm going to have to get a yeller stockman myself. I see yours and I'm ... jealous!! LOL.

This classic yellow 3318 was my second knife after the knife bug bit

I actually could have stopped right there!!

I caught the "Traditional Virus" too. I'm afraid there is no cure. Treatment coming along nicely for symptoms however a little expensive. I think one prescription purchase a month will alleviate my worst symptoms, though two doses does make me feel better. Good choice on your patterns. I am really starting to like that Green Bone. Oohh, thats not good.

This new, yet old 'virus' is something i'm glad i picked up. Haven't been so enthusiastic about a knife or knives in years...
Here are some new photos

Here is the small problem i was talking about, found in the green one. The middle liner is slightly bent towards the main blade. The action is good now, but a small space remains between the liner and the small blade, when opened. I guess this was and is causing a little more friction on the main blade opening.
What do you think, should i attempt to fix it, or just leave it as is. I don't mind this, but as i said, this is supposed to be a gift.

JT, my yellow nut was the exact same way, it was bent in and it made the opening feel horrible.
After some use, it bent back over and fixed itself, I honestly don't know what you should do, but it's a beautiful knife.

I love the chestnut too, it's on my list.
