I just bought my first case pocket knife. It is a Trapper #97163. dark brown
bone scales with mother of pearl case insignia. CV steel, very good fit and finish. It was made in 1998. I bought it new from a local dealer that has many limited edition sets and single pieces. It also has 1 of 1000 etched into the clip point blade. an all around nice knife and it was shaving sharp out of the display. Now I need to get the stag handled one that caught my eye also. I think I'm hooked. I always liked folders with clips but I think I'm converting:D I'm going to get a leather pocket sheath made with a clip to keep it riding nice and prevent it from falling from my pocket:thumbup:
 
What you've given as the number is an inventory number. The model number should be stamped on the tang, and will tell the model of knife! Or post a picture:D
 
It should be a 6254 if its a two blade Trapper. I havent seen one with a pearl shield except for the pearl premier series. I have a couple, but they are all stainless blades. I'd love to see a picture!

Also, I've added pocket clips to a couple of the larger traditional folders (S&M Moountain man, Case Cheetah) and it worked out great and I can carry them much more easily now. I know, I know. Flog me if you want, but I don't like sheaths! Sorry.
 
Yes it is a 6254 and a pearl premier. The main reason I picked this one was it had the CV blades. As soon as I get a camara to borrow I'll post a pic.
