Just ordered my first 16.5-inch Chiruwa AK from Uncle. I've owned my share of 12-15 inch AK's in the past, but this is my first "big and beefy" kukri.

While I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival, I'll ask you guys for some feedback. What can I expect from this coconut-buster? How will it compare to my 15-inch AK? Give me the critique lowdown. What do you like about Chiruwas, and what not?

Uncle Bill truly is a great guy. Where else can you buy a knife without waiting for a check to clear? Certainly not e-bay!

D.G.

P.S. I haven't posted much at this forum in the past, but I do check in each week to learn about kukris.

I'm still kinda ambivalent about the chiruwa handles. I like the looks of them, but I feel like they transmit a bit more vibration to my hand while chopping. I've also noticed that the laha around the slabs starts to dry out and flake after a while, at least on the two chiruwa khuks I have.

Stick around the Cantina, the more the merrier!

I just used my 16 1/2" Chiruwa this weekend in the yard. I wish I had taken pictures, my wife unexpectedly said where is that kukri thing of yours? She did a good job with it too!

You'll definitely like that "work-horse"!

Well, here's what I think of mine, and what it's capable of. This is now my favorite knife BTW, although I haven't had a chance to truly bond with my other Kumar khukuri yet as it's out on a pass-around.
