Ok, so maybe not "big" in the size sense of the word, but definitely the in depth, big project sense.

I've done some basic notebook covers, but nothing detailed, and nothing with sewing.

The leather is 6/7 oz from Zac White. Very nice flesh side. Solid brass hardware, although I want to change the buckle as it isn't as high quality as I'd like. There are a lot of mistakes, and I can point them out readily, so the next one will be much, much better. I might try a pig skin lined bag next. I'll carry this one for a while so I kind of know more what I want to change on the next one.

The second bag is also the same 6/7 oz. It hasn't been stitched yet, as my awl needle came out of the handle and I need to figure out a better awl solution. I tried a little caving/tooling on the edges, which makes me want to go out and buy $100 worth of stamps to play with. This bag will have a strap attached, but will have two different straps made for it, as my almost 5 year old boy has claimed it so he can "have a bag like yours daddy." He's my little helper and usually stands on a stool at my left side while I'm working art my bench. I made the bag for my squirrel hunting bag, but I guess I'm going to have to make another one now!

No one make fun of my bench!

I can`t make fun of your work bench cause mine looks like that half the time. Great job on both bags. It looks like you put a lot of work into that first one for sure. Thanks for posting.

The first one took FOREVER with the hand stitching. I think they guys that say they find hand stitching relaxing are nuts. It's like making knives with a file instead of a grinder. If I would have had to make more than one knife with a file, I'd have quit. I really, really want a sewing machine now! I'm thinking maybe the Cowboy CB3200 eventually. That purchase is a year down the road probably.

WOW Brian. Saw the knife sheath post and now this one. I had no idea you did leather. I've dabbled (and spent a few bucks on some leather tools) but nothing more than a few simple pocket knife sheaths and a few axe and hatchet covers.

Those bags look awesome.

You've inspired me to try the bag thing now, or at least go to another level. I have some large pieces of heavy 9/10 oz. veg tanned leather in the shop. Time to do something with them.
