Hello gentlemen, This is my first attempts at knife making. The one on top was made from a Nicholson mill bastard file (1095?). I like the file teeth on the blade. The one on the bottom was made from O1. I've been carrying and using it for a couple weeks. I want to Parkerize it for a better finish. I'm also thinking about attempting some G10 scales for it. Anyway, tell me what you think. Sorry for the poor pic.

I like the top one. I like the fact that you left most of the word bastard on the file.

Nice job on the wrap. Do you know of a tutorial on how to wrap like that?

It's a basketweave wrap. A guy by the name of stormdrane (I think) has tutorials on youtube.

I'm not a fan of tantos but these look well done. The handle wrap looks really sharp with the two-tone paracord. do they both have a chisel grind? You said you would like to parkerize them, what sort of finish do they have now?

They both have compound bevels, and black Krylon finishes. I'm just starting to get into this knife making thing and can't decide on finishes and such. I figured that Krylon is easy to blast back off and will keep them from rusting.

I made them tantos because I work at a machine shop and use a mill. We don't have a sander of any kind and I have yet to build my confidence up to try and grind one. I am no Bladesmith! I stumbled upon this site after I finished the one on the bottom and was wondering how to temper O1. Now I'm hooked! I'm bound and determined to build a Strider SMF clone. I wish I could afford one.......:(......... but one thing I do have is time and machines.
