My first CRK fixed blade

I finally got around to picking up a Nyala today at the gun show and I'm completely floored with it. Like a kid at Christmas, I slipped the new CRK onto my belt when I took my first haul of goodies back to my truck. I've never EDC'd a fixed blade, and after this one has been so comfortably riding my belt today, I am still asking myself why not. The sheath is top notch, very secure and easily resheathable for me which had been a concern before buying it. The Nyala is going to be carried daily, along with the Spyderco PPT that my son bought for me. Some might consider it a bit of overkill, but like it's been said, "Overkill never fails". :D

Thanks CRK for such a great knife.....

Yep, I sure did!! I love my Large Regular Sebbie and when I first saw this CRK quite a while back, it very quickly became a definite must have for me. :D

The Nyala has become my "go to" fixed blade. I picked one up as soon as they were released.

I find it very comfortable in the hand, and the blade shape is well suited for a lot of different cutting tasks.

I agree, Joe. I'd handled one at a previous gun show and, even though I loved it, I just wasn't able to take one home with me....until yesterday. Awesome blade.....

I've been carrying my Nyala for the past couple of weeks and I have to say that it has become one of my favorite knives. Being my first fixed blade EDC took some getting used to but this CRK definitely gives me a sense of ease in that I know it will take anything I will throw at it, take it in stride and keep on working. However, I did give the sheath a mink oil treatment and it's really looking sweet now. :D

nice score man. i had a chance to handle one at the gun show last weekend myself. and if i had the money it would have gone home with me. whitch show did you pick it up at?

I have been wanting to get a Nyala. I was kinda slow in pulling the trigger earlier this week, or would have had one. I have always looked at it as a fixed blade sebenza. I know I will get one eventually. When I want to EDC a fixed blade, I grab my CRK Professional Soldier. I know the Nyala will be a nice compliment.

Great EDC.

Looks very nice, congratulations on the new knife. The Nyala is one I'd hope to get. I don't have a CRK fixed blade but it looks extremely nice.

Adam, I picked this one up at the Saxet gun show down here in Corpus Christi, TX, from the same guy that I had bought my Umnum from the last time they were down here, about two months ago. I actually got a little deal($215) on it since with tax it came out to what the Nyala normally goes for, about $230.

Once you go fixed it's hard to go back to folders.

I agree, and although some may think the stock to be too thick on this fixed blade, I love it. By the way, I have also found out that this fixed is very comfortable for RF pocket carry, with just the right amount of handle sticking up out of pocket to easily draw the knife.

Thanks, Esav, I really like the way the oil treatment came out. I've thought about trying to make it darker, but it looks good as is too.

All in all, I'm very happy with my Nyala...definitely a keeper!

Nyala is awesome, handles most of "my" food prep needs (wife has her own steel) as well as pretty much anything I want to throw at it. Got a Kydex sheath made by Kiah that is awesome.

Curious: my lanyard was triple the length of yours (from the pic) did you alter it? Not that it really matters but still. ?

The original lanyard was taken off and put in the box and I put an old one from my Large Regular Sebbie on the Nyala. :D

I had the smaller lanyard on for a little while, but found the knife much more comfortable to use without it due to the full size handle. :D

Nice knife! When you mention "overkill never fails," I have always been a fan of, "There's no success like excess!"
