A short intro:

Ive been into knives for a few years now. Started off looking for a good deer hunting knife and picked up a GL Drew off the exchange. That lead to modern knives and studying steal. Eventually though, I found I am a traditional slip joint guy and spent the next year and half with those. I still love my slippies and the history behind them.

However, my wife and I decided she needed to be a stay at home mom due to my daughter's condition (see my GAW). This meant our family of 4 would be living on 1 teacher's salary. Money would be tight so I sold off all that was not attached to me and was going to put that in the savings. However, my wife is awesome, she told me to spend it on something I really wanted.

I had the traditional knives I wanted and this last bit of play money would be my last, I decided I wanted a Chris Reeves. I've never had one so I thought why not. Man am I glad I did! The small Sebenza 21 fits my hand perfectly! The blade is thicker than the traditionals I am accustom to but these small 21s are perfect and I dare say my grail user.

Since picking up my first, pictured below, I went ahead and spent the rest of my play money on Chris Reeves. I have 2 small Sebenza 21s w/ the Elk Mountain etch on order that I will get engraved for each of my kids, and a Damascus Mnandi in Ebony.

I may be done buying knives due to budget and priorities, but man did I save the best for last in getting these.

My new EDC that will be paired with a traditional

Hope you all have a great weekend and don't mind a drop a few pics in everynow and then.

Well you certainly have a winner in that small Micarta Seb! Congrats, and enjoy!

The great thing about CRK's is that you won't need another one, doesn't mean you won't want several more, you have a knife that will be the most dependable you'll ever own. You can always send it in for a face lift when/if the time comes when you feel like it needs a make over.
Congratulations !!! and your children will be thankful as well.

Beautiful knife Brett!
I almost bought a small micarta raindrop but went for a small micarta Insingo this time. My wife is "surprising" me with a Demascus in the future so I thought I would get a great user in the mean time.

I always pair up my CRK's with a traditional. Just makes for a perfect combo.

Nice Sebenza Brett! I also think that CRK's pair well with a traditional. That's a great last knife.

You made a great choice there! I often pair up a traditional knife with one of my Sebenzas, it's my favorite knife combos for carry!

Thank you all for the kind words and welcome. Ajack60, your post was my same reasoning in choosing Chris Reeve as the last. These are just classic and time will only improve them in my opinion.

The Mnandi arrived. Only 2 more to go that should be here soon.

Nice Mnandi too! Make sure you share pics of the elk mountain knives when they arrive:)

KBA, those are beautiful. :) I love the ladder Damascus/Micarta Sebbie! And that Mnandi with raindrop Damascus/Ebony is truly outstanding. Top-notch choices! Well done.

I appreciate the kind words on these. They really are the best I own.

Not the best pic as its raining and late in the day, but the last two small 21s arrived. I'll be sending these off to get engraved with a scripture verse that I have a tattoo of and has become a family prayer of sorts. I'll eventually hand them off to my daughters or their husbands.

Thanks again for the kind words and allowing this new Chris Reeve fan, carrier, and user to post a bit.

Beautiful trio, if you don't mind me asking, what scripture verse are you going have engraved.

Thank you sir.

Ephesians 3:14-21

I chose the Mountain scene bc/ my wife and I spent our honeymoon in Glacier National Park and then took a road trip through the Grand Tetons. One day I'll get back to the Rockies.

Meaningful verses for your children. I hope and pray that they learn the meaning of the verses from you and their mother so it will be special to them and something to pass on.
One of my favorites is John 15:13

Man. Great post and great knives. Also sounds like a great wife.!! I love my chris reeves knives too.

Thank you Cutitout. After getting the first small seb I had to let future readers know what a great knife this is, especially from a traditional slipjoint user. I read a thread about Chris Reeve knives having soul yesterday. Before picking these up I would have ignorantly doubted that. Now that I have them I fully agree.

Ajack - Brother, that is my pray as well. That I model it for them on a daily bases, laying down my life for theirs each day. I appreciate the opportunity to share that and the encouragement as well.

I may add a pic or two of the engraving, but do not want to resurrect this thread if it drifts off. I may just add it to the picture thread.

All the best.

Thanks for the photos, Sir. You sound like a good man, with a fine family. For your sanity's sake, please completely ignore Busse knives. There's no end to them!...;-)

Glad you are enjoying your choices and for doing what you have to for your family and thankful for your wife for doing for you, what you in turn were willing to give up for them!

Fine choice Brett - congrats!

I have a small regular 21 with no inlays and like it, but my favorite is still my Small Micarta Insingo - that thing is pretty much perfect!

Although I love crying my regular 21 every once in a while as it has a very soft detent and is easy on the thumb :)

I'm itching to try a Zaan now....
