Hey guys - I had posted last week looking for some advice on a first CRK - the small sebenza or mnandi - then I discovered the small insingo, fell in love, and they magically came back in stock on the same day :D

Well my first Chris Reeve just showed up thanks to the greatest girl a guy could ever ask for :)

She let me "play" with it for 30 minutes and now its being sent off for an engraving and then put into hiding until my birthday

I'm sure most of you guys remember the first time you opened that white box and picked your CRK up... What a feeling!

On the knife, this is hands down the most good-lookin knife I've ever owned - the simplicity of the design, the stonewashed blade and that profile is just gorgeous. I love it so much I think I'm going to sell a bunch of my knives and order the large Insingo tonight - the blade shape really REALLY rocks and it cuts like a friggin razor. I was afraid it might not have a good enough point being a sheepsfoot blade, but it really does - the blade sweeps up a bit right before the tip forming a decent point, although nothing like the point on the 21.

I was originally going to get an Umnumzaan to compliment this small Insingo, but I really think the large Insingo will be PERFECTION for carry on the weekends and outdoorsy stuff. I cant imagine enjoying the zaan more than a large insingo...

Really like the swedge on the top of the blade by the point - had no idea it would have that from all the pics I've seen - I imagine it makes penetration that much easier. Its not sharpened, although could be very easily, but I plan to leave it as is.

Now do I really need an Mnandi? :D

Here are the obligatory pics:

Gorgeous! Congratulations!

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, what are you having engraved?

Lovely:thumbup: Wise choice getting the Insingo version in my humble opinion but you can't go wrong with the regular 21 or Umnumzaan either.

Maybe you should buy one of those the next go around instead of another Insingo just to spice things up a little;)

Wow, born on May 25, that one's fresh from the mint!

Hey guys - thank you very much!

As for the engraving - on the lock-bar side I know she wants to put my initials and her initials and possibly the year

On the front side, well, she said it was a surprise... :D

I do have a hunch though just because I know her too well...

Although she said it was for my birthday (which is in October ), this summer I've hinted that I plan on proposing to her while we are in europe (which I have every intention on doing - ring payed for, parents asked), so... I'm assuming she is saving this really for an engagement gift.

If thats the case, which I'm 99% sure it is, I will bet money that she gets the roman numerals "XXVIII" engraved in big type on the front - that is the day of our anniversary and we are actually getting these numerals tattooed on each other in the next few weeks...

I guess I wont know until August when we get back from our trip :D

Wow what amazing preparations!
Really sounds great congratulations for the both of you!

Thanks for the pics as well!
That swedge really is invisible in factory pics, thanks for the close ups!

congrats on the seb! great lookin blade! and congrats on that future proposal!

Congrats all the way around! I have a Large Insingo and a Mnandi, so the differences are a bit more pronounced than Mnandi and Small Insingo.

However, I would suggest that the more elegant (to my eye) design of the Mnandi, coupled with the inlay and lighter weight, really do put it in a class all its own in the CRK lineup.

So, yep. Get the Mnandi too!
