Hey guys I have decided that I am going to buy a Sebenza but I am not sure which one to get. I will EDC this knife along with my Emerson Super Commander, so the Sebenza will be my "user" as I want to have the Emerson only for issues of a more tactical nature. So with that Sebenza only being used for cutting open wrappers and such should I get a small or a large? I am buying online so I will not be able to handle the knife before I buy it and I want to make the right choice. CRK seem like amazing knives and I really don't want this to be a bad buying experience as it will ruin my view of CRK forever....Thanks:thumbup:

Wish I had read around like you prior to buying umnumzaan, but I made up for it with a small seb, go for the large not much price diff since youre done past the 300dollar amount.

If you have a lot of pocket realestate, Id say go for the large. It will be better for every day tasks, as the blade is better suited for things such as food prep. If you don't ever use a larger blade, you may as go for the small. It is lighter, easier to pocket, and more friendly.

It all depends on what you use your knife for. FOr me, Id go for the large for sure.

I'd say go large Sebenza. You won't be disappointed. Your only question now is plain, wood or micarta inlays, computer generated graphic, or unique graphic.

What didn't you like about the Umnum?

you really cant go wrong with either, but my vote is for the large...you EDC a super commander so i think you will have no trouble with the large:D

I carry / use both sizes.

General rule, in my opinion, is that if you are only looking to acquire one then consider that a Small can do the job of a Small- but a Large can do the job of both a Large or a Small.

Hope this helps.

Take care, Neil

If you are comfortable carrying a Super Com, you will not be happy with the Small Seb. The blade length is 2.94", but that is a deceptive figure- the blade-to-handle ratio for Sebenzas is very close to 1:1, so in the closed position the Small Seb is truly very small- very different from the Commander, whose handle is noticeably longer than the blade.

I recommend you go with a Large 21. The 21 is, in my opinion, a superior design to the Regular, and it is closer to Chris's "original" Sebenza design.

If you're coming from the Emerson camp (as I did) you'll have to change your opinion of knives a little bit to understand what a Sebenza is and does. Look for the little things- the perfectly polished screw heads, the very fine tolerances, the tight and smooth blade action, the sweet "click" of the lockup. Even the pleasantly rounded blade spine is a joy. If you can appreciate these subtle touches, and not miss the aggressive G-10 and the hardcore Wave, then you will love your Sebenza.

This is the reason I want one. I will still carry the super commander in my pocket, the commander will always be my protector blade. I want the sebenza for a user and I want a quality knife with all those little features. I'll be carrying the sebenza in my maxpedition edc, not my pocket. The Emersons are my big ugly defenders the sebenza will be my feel good blade that will get most of the usage. I don't use my defensive knife for anything but that, this way I am sure it is always sharp just in case the day I need it should come.

Excellent. This is a great idea, and it's a good example of using knives for their intended purpose. The Commander- especially the Super Com- is a superb hard-use knife and a very good defensive weapon, even if the wide recurved blade is not optimal for my style of fighting. Ergos are excellent, the Wave is a blessing, and the grippy G10 and flat scales aid knife manipulation and allow a very easy forward-to-reverse roll. The Seb, while technically even tougher and more durable than the Emerson, is really intended for more gentlemanly utility tasks. The quality of the piece and the precision of the fit and finish are so perfect that you can't help but use it all the time. The ergos are not good enough for fighting, and the scales are not grippy enough either- but it is an excellent EDC knife.
