I just received my first CRK today. I went with the Wilson Tactical 'star-benza'. Here are my initial thoughts:

  • Damn! this thing is tight
  • There is absolutely no way they could have fit any more blade into this handle
  • man, this thing is tiny!

Mine is so tight it takes two hands to open it up. It's quite an engineering marvel, this little knife. I was very concerned about the large vs small, but this one fits my hand like it was made for it, has just enough blade, but still disappears into the pocket. I would put the handle size very close to a Kershaw Leek. Everything about it is perfect, I mean really perfect. Where most knives have something that is a little wrong, or off to one side, or whatever, the CRK has none of that. It didn't come quite as sharp as I would have liked, but a few strokes on the sharpmaker took care of that.

I'm really glad I went with the small. I was looking for 'one folder to rule them all' (which I know is a fallacy), for mostly deep pocket carry backing up my SAK. Prior to this I have alternated between a G10 Delica, a Sage I, and a BM 940. This Seb is obviously in a way different class that any of those. The 940 is probably the closest with its all metal construction, but as you all know, it's doesn't even come close in F&F.

That being said, I don't know if it was worth $359. Time will tell, but any way you cut it, that's alot of money. My plan is to carry it daily for the next couple of months and then revisit the 'is this knife worth the money' question.

Mine came Thursday and was the same way--impossible to open without two hands. I've been opening and closing it lots since Thursday, and it's quite nice now. The detent is still a little rough but nowhere near what it was when I got it.

Remember to change the lube regularly because it gets nasty fast with it working in (I've been changing it 2-3 times a day, but that's with opening and closing it lots).

The small is nice isn't it. I too was having a hard time thinking if I wanted a small or not, but I love the small. They do jampack a lot of blade in that tiny handle. The knife looks really small when it is closed, but once the blade is out you are like "What happened to that small knife that was just in my hand" it does transform. Yes, it is very similair to the leek, but I find it locks in the hand much better and feels more comfortable. Sucker locks up like a vault. It is the closest to a fixed blade that you can get from a folder.

Yea the small is great. As for the knife being worth the money some people get it, some people don't, everyone has their own preferences.

Pix, or it didn't happen. ;)

Well, it's been 16 hours since I got this beauty. I just can't get over the precision with which it's made. For example, the blade can't be anything but centered, because there isn't enough room between the scales for it not to be. Mine has less that 1/32 between the blade and the scale on each side.

The action is starting to smooth out now. My thumb is sore from manipulating it, but it's getting there.

Way to go... my thumb is sore too from breaking in my damascus sebenza. One tip I have found is to actually put your thumb below the thumbstud, then push down on the actual blade of the knife while pushing out at the same time. You barely even push on the thumb stud and it saves your thumb a lot of pain. You have to find the precise spot, but once you find it the blade will open effortlessly even, the sticky brand new ones with the deep detent.

Oh.. and where are those pics.... ?????

I am not sure about yours but both my sebenza's were very smooth and just needed a light greasing to be perfect right out of the box.

You can also try loosening the pivot screw most of the way out, and then lightly re-tightening until just barely snug. That did the trick w/o lubing on my first regular Seb.
