Well I decided to test the waters and I jumped in with a Mnandi Box Elder Burl. I must say that this is a gorgeous knife. I've looked at A LOT of pictures and decided that this was the one for me. I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks to BladeForums and the CRK sub-forum for the great information and the hours of fun you provide.
Here's a picture of the new addition

Congrats wttam! As beautiful as that knife is, I know it's even moreso impressive in-person.

When it comes to gentleman's knives, I think the Mnandi is one of the best.
I love the non-knife-looking pocket clip.

Congrats on your new knife. :D

I've been thinking about one of those, but aren't sure how much a gentleman I want to be :)

Can you still open it one handed? I heard it was possible.

The Mnandi can be opened and closed one handed. The small and large Sebenzas are easier to open one handed though. Recently, within the past couple of months, the thumb nick has been modified and I have seen at least one post where someone had difficulty opening the new version one handed. I have two with the new thumb nick and I personally don't notice much difference. I mainly carry a Mnandi so I am used to opening them one handed.

Thanks for the kind words. I've been impressed with how great this knife looks in person. I've been looking for the "perfect" gentleman's folder and this is certainly the high water mark for me. To be candid about one handed opening, it's nearly impossible for me to open the knife one handed. It doesn't bother me as i've carried knives with nail nicks for a long time and for my use around the office, one handed opening is unnecessary. If this were a large heavy use folder, it would be unacceptable but for this knife and it's use, I'm more than pleased.

Box Elder on a Mnandi is a great look. I am sure you will grow to love yours more and more each day. That's the way I feel about mine. Excellent choice!

I, as well, see this as a non-issue. I have never viewed knives with nail nicks to be one-handed openers anyway. I am sure that some can manage to open it with one hand ... in my case, my large hands and declining dexterity make it to much of a challenge.

Congrats. What a way to jump in. You will enjoy that one for a long time.

I have gotten so used to opening my Mnandi one handed that I just tried opening a small Sebenza and actually found it more difficult to open the Sebenza. The tecnique I use for the Mnandi does not work as well on the Sebenza. They both require different techniques for opening one handed. In all fairness, it has been over a year since I carried a Sebenza so I have become proficient with the Mnandi.

That is beautiful. I've been getting closer and closer to pulling the trigger on a Mnandi. Your post along with the wonderful picture is nudging me ever closer.

Congrats and as others have said, welcome to the club/addiction

You forgot the c in addiction ;)
I think you're probably correct in that statement!

It was really the thread by d.r.h. about a week ago that pushed me over the edge. I just couldn't resist this knife any longer.

So very glad I could help you drain your wallet and put a smile on your face!! Funny how everyone on this forum is so kind that way. To think ..... everyone here got me started down the path to CRK bliss only 3 and a half months ago ..... and 14 CRKs later (that will be 15 later this afternoon) .... I am still in bliss! Enjoy!

I find that the mnandi is easier to open than a sebenza. I can open it with my thumb or even flick it open with my pointer using the opposite nail nick.

I think that Mnandi was a mistake as a first purchase. Seriously... how are you going to top that??

Seriously - what a beautiful knife!

I think you're right. I'm already looking at a few of my other knives trying to decide what to sell so I can get my next CRK. Ti-Lock or Sebenza?
