I've really been wanting one good EDCable fixed blade to finally end my search for one; I don't tend to carry fixed blades as often as folders, so I figured I should stop wasting money on more small fixed blades and instead get one that satisfies every desire I might have in a knife. I saw Chris' work on the exchange and was really impressed with his selection of steels (he's made blades in CPM 10V and 9V, two very rare steels) and the clean simplicity of his work. His order book was miraculously open, so I drew up a design with some specs and sent it over to him. In just about a month, the knife was finished, and I was absolutely stunned by the results
I designed the knife after the traditional Scottish Sgian Dubh, a utility knife carried in the sock. I was first exposed to this design from a Cold Steel Hold Out III, and love the symmetry of the design, which I find both aesthetically and practically attractive.
Here's the specs:
-.165" CPM-3V
-3.5" blade, 4.5" handle
-.155" Jade G10 scales with black liners.
The super thin handle profile was to make the knife more easily concealable, it feels great IWB because the overall design is so slim. Jade G10 has always been my favorite color option, but it's used so infrequently that I have yet to get a good knife with it. It's ground super, super thin and is easily the best slicer I own. The performance is insane and the edge Chris put on it is quite literally the sharpest I have ever experienced. I can't say enough good things about Chris himself; he was courteous, prompt, and quite reasonable with the price. If you have a fixed blade idea in your head, I highly recommend you give him an email
