Congrats man. Very few actually go through with seeking out & buying a grail custom XM. Love that bronze Thumbstud.
Many travel a different path in the hunt...I journey to shows/such across the country and take my chances in lotteries...other fire up an Internet-capable machine and hunt that way...it's part of the fun.
I can more than understand the travel journey. My first passion is pool and cue collecting. Last year I went to many cue shows across the country. The most satisfying was flying to Chicago and I purchased a cue from a highly exclusive cuemaker. Loved every minute of the trip.
Unless my eyes are deceiving me, the frame is lightly anodized. It shimmers gold in the sunlight. That is how it was described to me as well. And it looks nothing like the beadblast 3" slicer that is my EDC. My photography skills are not very good to illustrate the color.
Thanks for all of the kind words. Rick is truly a master of his craft.
Cool,
My pool cues are not rare/fancy...just nice(ish) like McDermott and such. Billiards to me is a light hobby, I'm not deeply passionate about it, but enjoy playing often.
If that frame is anodized like you are describing, that sounds like a nice unique quality.
If it were mine, only thing I'd consider is swapping the brass standoffs for bronze Ti since it might better match everything else on that knife. But that's just me.
