Hey all!!

Believe it or not within the span of just a few weeks I have gone from my first high end slipjoint ( GEC 72) to placing orders with

several makers( Todd Davison, Ken Coats, Raymond Smith) and buying my first custom. Man these traditionals really get to you :)

I am just so tired of lugging around a block of steel and titanium in my pocket, just to cut open a package or trim a loose piece of thread

I was cruising my usual vendors and spotted this beauty for a really great price. I coulden't pass it up so its now on its way and should be here tomorrow!!

These pics are from the site I purchased it at, but I will definitely post lots of pics tomorrow and my thoughts as well.

I am so dang excited!!!

Congratulations! Looks like a nice one! I'll be looking forward to your pics and thoughts.

That's awesome. Spey blade is one of my favorites, especially around my kids!

I didnt move quite as fast as you, but generally feel the same way. Though I usually carry a slippy and a "tactical" folder together. Use the slippys more often though. That looks like a really nice one! great start!

Congrats! That's a good looking knife! A good custom slipjoint is a wonderful thing, I can think of no finer expression of the knife making art.

Can't quite remember when I made that one, I'm going to say 4-ish
years ago? Enjoy!
Ken.

That looks like a winner!

Thanks everyone!

I'm not the biggest fan of clip point blades, definitely prefer a spear or drop point. The Spey is right in the middle and for sure a great edc

blade shape, plus I'm an absolute sucker for a long pull.

After seeing Kens work and placing 2 orders with him :) I just had to check him out first hand.

Very true, the tactical knives are cool, but there is something to be said about the precision and beauty of a traditional.

Thanks Ken, this is my appetizer to my 2 orders I have in with you :)

That looks really nice! Love the flush pins, shield, jigging, and overall clean look of that knife. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

received the knife today!!

Wow, what can I say. Its pretty amazing the difference between a custom and even a high end slippy.

Besides the obviously perfect f&f, its also in the hands on difference. The pull is hard, but not too hard. Its a nice quality pull that is fluid the whole cycle.

Very nice half stop, I mean this thing ain't closing on you :) and that snap when fully opened!!! WOW!! I mean is there a better sound out there?

I am a big fan of EO knives and although this is not one, the fact that its a Spey blade makes it just as easy to open without using the pull.

Speaking of the long pull, I love how the heat treat? was left on the inside, as it matches perfectly with the color of the bone. A very nice touch.

The spring is flush in all 3 positions, I love the fluting on the bolster. this is just an incredibly nice knife. Can't believe it was cheaper than even a used case/Bose!!

I can't find any negatives about it except for the end cap has a sharp point, but that is no biggie at all.

Overall I am obviously ecstatic about my first leap into custom slipjoints and I now have a new edc for a long time.

Great looking knife. Ken does indeed create some very nice pieces. He's also very helpful in making my goofy mods that I think up.

Good stuff!!
