I have been wanting a custom fixed blade for a while now (after seeing Christians beautiful knife).
I had this made for me by a little known maker in Transylvania and it is all i could possibly ask for in a big fixed blade..I ordered just the blade and will put my own handle on it when i source the parts...I will ask the maker to answer any technical questions if they arise...

Specs..
OAL.....15 inches
Blade length....10 and 1/2 inches x 2 inches wide x7mm thick at spine (it is massive)
Steel...5160,L6 and barbed wire
Tang...Full tang and fully tapered
Edge...Was toothy sharp but now shaves hair
Handle....Bare blade on arrival, currently bound in leather...I will use brass liners, bronze slabs, copper washers and wrought iron pins
Pride of ownership...This knife has soul !!

All comments are welcome......................Fes

Wow!
Transylvania. Wow.
Making something good out of barbed wire(horrible stuff IMO) Wow.
The stamp-Is that a Fess? how apt .
It's like nothing I've ever seen.
Sweet as Broo.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
great photes too.
cheers.

10 1/2" blade? You do favor your big blades Fes.

I like it. Has a raw, elemental look to it. Can't wait to see the finished product.

That's a big one Fes! Very nice sir :) Great pics too

Looking forward to seeing more of this one

I have two of these type knives from Szilard, or Hellize, myself, the ones I purchased he dubbed the 'Post Apocalyptic Style' knife. He has a very unique style which I love. Your knife will certainly be special, I would love to see it's final form.

Congrats.

Now that one would make a medieval knight proud, FES!! Love the steel!! It's going to compliment that shield you made quite well!!!

Good to see you, Sir:D

Very cool. Let us know how it performs. Just gotta love a nice forged blade. 5160 should really take a beating, tough stuff.

Quite a beast, Fes, the steel looks great. Can't wait to see your handle touches and get a report on the usefulness and edgeholding.

Thats a wicked Blade Fes, it turned out awesome, I can just about hear the teeth rattling in the deep bush around you now - Know Fear furry Brethren - know fear!!!

Scene:two feral pigs wallowing and munching happily in a lush NZ forest gully.
Hamlet: Oink oink hey Grunter did you hear something?.....Grunter? yoinks

...that's one epic blade you've got there friend,....love it and with barbed wire too eh! awesome bro. It'll outlast many, many generations of mad Vodka swilling, pickled fish eating Cossack bushmen,.....oh and on a side note, no hunting calendars for this year sorry, :grumpy:

Kris,.

Wonderful knife, FES! It will sure serve you well.

Hm - In Transylvania they seem to know how to make a great looking knife. I would keep it as it is right now. With this wrapped leather handle it has great archaic appeal, at least to me.

Eventually ... I have to contact the maker as well. Transylvania is not so far from here...

Fes,
I would not expect anything less from you.
It does suit you. Which is the best thing anyone could say about a custom knife :)
And being honest, I like the handle the way it is now ;)
