I would like to place an order for my first custom knife. I would like to buy a Darrel Ralph EDC. I have a few questions before I place my order. Should I go all the way with the knife-damascus blade, ivory overlays, etc? I would like to carry the knife in a nice leather slip pouch-I sincerly doubt that it will see much use, I just would like to carry it. Would you recomend daily carry? I really don't have any idea how this process works. Do I put down half the value of the knife and then pay the rest when it is finished? What is an apropriate length of time to wait? I really don't know if I can deal with a long wait

I have the Busse folder on order and that is due out in a few months and I am already chomping at the bit to get that in my hands

By the way which one's Pink?

If you are going to use the EDC I would not pick damascus. Talonite or D2 would be my choices. What are you looking at spending? If you go all out the price will be quite high, but worth every penny, IMO.

I would carry it every day myself, but that is up to you.

Darrel does not take overly long to get his knives out, but if a couple of months will drive you crazy then you should get the straight jacket ready. You will probably have to wait longer than that, but maybe not that much. Contact Darrel and check it out, You will find that he is great to work with, a real nice guy.

You can get his email address on his web site. www.darrelralph.com

Nice choice for your first custom. Here is a picture of CPR's damascus bladed beauty. The stainless damascus and carbon fiber go together great. I still am having dreams of this knife

The waiting is the sweetest part. It's kind of like when you've been dating a girl for a long time and you've been fooling around but haven't finally done it. You know that crazy feeling of anticipation? And then the knife finally comes and it's really like a consummation of sorts....

Yesterday a knife arrived from Rob Davidson that I had ordered back in October. He had sent me lots of updates, told me about options, made some changes at my request and teased me with a few progress pics. When I finally got the knife in my greedy little hands I was absolutely ecstatic. And I knew something about what went into it. You can check out a similar piece at http://www.rocketknives.com

I got the Sky Dragon with a heat colored blade and clip, heat colored titanium and desert ironwood overlays. A very good deal for $275!

Darrel is great to work with. He is extremely responsive to emails and questions and his knives are works of art. Also, from what I have seen, his delivery times are not too long. Enjoy!
