This was a project a long time in the making and doing. Very nervous,'cos this was my first big job with Damasteel.

The specs - Dense Twist Damasteel (RWL-34 & 12C27 powdered stainless steels) 6.5inch blade, flat grind, cryo, triple temper - 60HRC, deep 3D etch and frosted finish. Fileworked collar, curved guard are heat-coloured. The front face is hammered, rear face is starburst finished. The handle is an astounding piece of stabilised Box Elder Burl, from Eugene Dimitriades of XyloAustralis. I could have done more shaping with the handle but I decided to use this "flattened" octagonal shape with clean facets to best display the fantastic grain in the wood. The 2 peridot insets in the handle act as indexing points for the fingers.

The sheath is all-in-one - the stud allows in the belt bowie carry, while the back has a very flat belt loop that sits the sheath high on the belt (away from the chair) and is a friction fit as the knife goes 2/3 way into the sheath.

All comments appreciated. I hope the intended owner is happy with what I've done. Thanks for looking. Jason.

'Personal Carry Bowie' ??? he he he! "No officer, I didn't realize that spurs, my six-gun, and this PCB were't allowed in the mini-food-mart. Let me just finish cutting off a piece of this here smoked sausage for my horse, and we'll be on our way....!"

I agree with Keith about longer blade lengths on Bowies.
That's personal preference.

Your knife is gorgeous.

I was about to comment that the bowie would look better with a rounded handle when I re-read your post about deliberately giving it the "flattened" look.

The blade looks great.
