My first Emerson is on its way

I bought a Emerson CQC -13 SF last night at New Graham, and it should be here Wednesday.

I had a fascination with EK back in the day after I started reading Dick Marcinko novels. I didn't EDC back then, but always wanted the model 'Demo Dick' carried.

Fast forward 25 years or so. I have been carrying BM's and Spydercos for the past couple years, but have been looking at EKI off and on during the time. I held off initially because of price. But I have come to realize that price generally equals quality when it comes to knives. That, and Emersons quality and reputation has made it easier to spend the money.

I am looking forward to joining your ranks as a Emerson owner.

Great! We need fresh meat :D

Nice :)

The 13 is a great knife, I'm sure you will be happy with it and it may well lead to many more

I'm surprised I don't own a 13 yet. It's the one production Emerson available that has the thickest locking liner

AW, Welcome to the world of Emerson Knives :D
That CQC-13 should keep you company for a long time.
I think you'll find a different vibe carrying an Emerson, there a little different than the other brands. It's a cool difference, you'll see ;)

I'm really curious...in which book did he use a 13? I only recall him using the 6 and 7's. Either way I'm sure you'll enjoy it - make sure you post pictures;)

He never used the 13. I went with the one that appealed to me most. I should have been more clear in the post.

Congrats on a great knife. I love emersons... Since Marcinko is now endorsing Striders, is there a Strider in your future?

I have looked at Strider extensively, but I have made a decision to not get into one. I think price wise, there are better knives available (even if you have to wait).

I hope I don't get in trouble with the mods on this one:o

Well, I think you made a great choice. The 13 is an outstanding knife. From what I hear, they are darn near a frame lock.

As usual, New Graham got it to me in two days.

I am very pleased with the knife. The G-10 is very grippy, and I like how it is slightly 'proud' of the liners. Gives it another dimension of grip. Fills my hand very well too.

Its feels very similar to my Spydie Chinook, but thats no surprise considering they are very similar size wise.

I think its a keeper!!

I have a truck issue right now, so I thinks its best for me to not look at anymore knives for the time being:o.

But another one is definitely in the future.
