Bought a CQC7-A, my first Emerson knife. I have to say I'm pleased with the overall feel and quality. The liner seats right where I like it on a liner lock (fully engaged but still towards the left as I look at it).

I like the feel of the handles and the size is great for regular carry. I have heard some criticism in the past of the blade-to-handle ratio, but on this particular design I think it really works. You get plenty of grip for the blade.

I think I got an older(?) production model. There is no marking of 154 CM on the blade, so I assume it's ATS-34; it's bead-blasted. Opening/closing action is very smooth. Haven't noticed any loosening of pivot screw, but if it does, I'll just Loctite it.

Hey James . . . Congratulations on your purchase. It's an illness and your now infected.

None of the Emersons, custom or production, to my knowledge were marked with what steel was used in them. Unlike, say, Microtech, among others.

Waited 5 years for my CQC-6 insulated from the world of tactical knifes and only collecting fixed blade customs including one John Smith "American Inner City" blued and sterile. My CQC-6 arrived this Feb. Immediately put in an order for an ES1-M and now own Green-T Commander, Matched set of CQC-7 and Commander, Socfk Tanto and Spear Point with SARK and NASA on order. Have a custom Lightfoot with more on the way, CRKT Lighfoots, MT DA LCC on order and who knows what else! As Laserman 1 says, "Hope you have a good job."
