Ok, so I bought a "new" Combat Karambit from SMKW. It was used. I am returning it for a full refund and will be ordering a knife directly from Emerson this time. I really really really like this kbit but I was originally torn between it and the persian. I have some "utility" type knifes already and originally went into this wanting as strictly defense knife. The more I look at Emerson's page though the more I like the Commander. I have already been beyond impressed with the quality of their work and their customer service so no other manufactures are on the table. So what do you guys recommend? I know whatever I get wont be my last, already caught the bug, so what should I get first.... sort of? Pictures and reviews are always welcome!

Cqc15. You get some recurve, you get some tanto, you get a badass handle. Whats not to love? I do love the comander and might end up with one soon.

^Ditto. Personally I prefer emersons smaller "mini" selection for edc but for strictly defense you can't go wrong with the fifteen, thirteen, eight, commander, roadhouse or combat karambit. Good luck just buying one :)

Hey, im doing pretty good with just one so far lol. I have a pro tech cqc7 but I dont count it as an emerson.

I ended up ordering a satin finish combat kbit. I just couldn't get over how much I liked that knife; I really had a hard time putting it down. I have no intention of just having one, this is just the FIRST one, haha. Next will likely be a 15, maybe a commander or a 13... or a persian? Who knows, the beast is coming out soon I hear? I have never dealt with a finer company or handled a better knife. I may just give up buying guns for a while and switch to knives! :)

What do mean you got a "used" knife? How could you tell? Was it damaged or worn? Why would they send you "used" stock?

Guns are expensive lol. This is why I have a handgun and a shotgun and thats it. K ives are where its at. Plus you can use them much more often and show them off.

Sharp Phil, I cant tell you WHY they would send me used stock but I can definably tell you that they DID. For starters I posted pics on a different thread but the edge itself was messed up. In the belly of the knife it looked like someone had tried to sharpen it and in the process they brought it down to a complete dullness. I mean you could press your finger against this spot and it wouldn't cut you at all. The other big clue was the fact that when I pulled out the warranty card to fill it out it was gone. The top of the card with all the "Congrats for buying an Emerson, now please take a second to fill out this card" was there, but the bottom with the actual areas to fill out was gone, ripped off across the dashed line. That was a pretty big clue. There were other little things too, no sticker, it was a 2012 model, some of the black finish missing on the back of the blade, a "waviness" almost like mini serrations at the base of the blade where it met the handle. All thrown together it was pretty obvious it was a previously owned knife. It was admittedly in good shape, but I'm not about to throw 270 down on a used knife when the msrp for new is 275.
