My First Emerson

Ran across a NIB Commander, satin/plain edge with wave) today at a local pawnshop (circa 2009). I've been wanting to try an Emerson and the Commander was one of the models that caught my eye so after some back and forth I got it for $150 OTD. Maybe not a screaming deal but as far as the knife itself I'm really happy with it!! My only concern is that I've just opened the door to yet another addiction. ;)
 
Lycosa, what's your favorite Emerson? I'm asking because an Emerson is the next purchase I'll make so I'm trying to decide which to get. Right now I'm looking at the commander

Badhammer, you are going to love your Commander knife! And yes, it the beginning of a wonderful addiction! But a fun one!
 
Question. On the left side of the blade just under the thumb disk is a four digit number. Is this a serial #? It looks like 2901.

bryan, I actually prefer the Super Commander over the Commander too. I have larger hands and own other four-inch blades so it wasn't a stretch for me to really take a liking to the SC. However, last weekend at Sam's Club the cashier needed a knife and I hesitated on bringing the SC out of my back pocket due to the huge number of sheeple so I had to use my Manix 2. Point is that the Super Commander's shear size & design could scare sheeple & I really don't like drawing unnecessary attention.

That said, the regular Commander is a great knife too!!

I just got my first Super Commander.....it doesn't sound like it's much bigger, but Holy Crap! It sure feels massive! Much better fit in my hand than the regular Commander. It's a 2013 model, and it's pretty much perfect in every way.

After carrying the Super Commander and using it for awhile, it affects my perception of my other "smaller" knives -- it makes 3.5 inch blades seem so small in comparison. It's not just the length of the SC, it's the sheer size and beefiness of it. Funny thing is, when I don't handle the SC for awhile and then go back for it, the "wow factor" hits again and I think, "man, that's a huge blade!"

Point is that the Super Commander is quite different than the regular one, IMHO. Badhammer, see if you can literally get your hands on a SC so you can see and feel the difference. If your hands are large enough & you like the regular Commander knife, you will LOVE the Super Commander.
