So I went to a gun and knife show today. I usually only look at hand forged knives, but today was different. I started looking at some pocket knives and ran across a spyderco knife someone had for sale. It was similar to their military style. Had black g10 Handel material, liner lock, SS liners, and the clip could be moved for left or right hand and up or down carry. The first thing that went through my head the second I picked it up was, WOW!!!! And then I opened it up....HOLY MOLY!!! You know the feeling to get when you pic something up and you know it's made from quite a few small parts but it feels like one piece, no rattles, no shakes? That knife was solid. By the way, that was the first time I've ever hade a spyderco in hand. So I've been bit by the bug, been searching on line all day since I got home to see witch one I want. I'm really liking the Manix2. Any thoughts on this knife? In all truth I was really really close to pulling the trigger on a Benchmade Griptillian but I've only seen pictures on the net.

Thanks.

Sounds like it might have been a starmate from your description. I've been considering picking one up since they were re-released. Just a little too expensive for the materials to make me pull the trigger. Can't really go wrong with a spyderco!

I love my manix 2, fits me better than my para 2 and locks up super solid

its bumped my other during work knives out of my pocket for the past month

I love my manix 2... its one of my favorite "harder use" folders, nice sturdy feel to it. I really like benchmade too but the scales on the Griptillian feel too cheap for my liking and I feel like it throws the balance, now that said, if it had some g10 on the Grip, id say go for it.

I'm referring to the standard manix2, I haven't held/used the manix2 lightweight

I am on Board with the Manix2 I have the DLC version, I have quite a few Spyderco's including the Para 2 and I carry this one the most. It is heavier than the Para 2 but the ergo's are incredible, still the Para2 is undoubtedly great (buy one of those to) but the Manix is a great knife unbeatable for the cash IMO.

I just bought one of the "cheap" Chinese Spydercos, expecting the worst. To my surprise the thing is put together as well or better than any of my other knives (and for only $32). Spyderco does a nice job.

You say you bought a cheap Chinese version? So there are copies of actual spyderco's?

I believe he is referring to the spyderco Byrd line made in china..... Or the tenacious family.

The Manix 2 is a great beast of a knife. I would get the G-10 version.
I've owned several Manix 2's and loved every one.
