My First ESEE Knives

I just got my first ESEE knives, an olive drab Izula, and a Desert Tan RC-4. I must admit I can already tell these will be addicting. (I already have a 3 on the way) I'm really impressed with the Izula, I have carried it daily since it arrived, wrapped it once and decided I like it skeletonized better. I am thinking a clip plate would be good for it as I prefer IWB carry but I have really enjoyed the Izula as a neck knife as well. It performs great as a daily task blade and since I ordered the kit I had to try and start a fire which I did after a few attempts. I can't wait to give it a run through on some heavier chores. I haven't had much of a chance to really use the 4 as much as I'd like but I'm planning on changing that pretty soon. Both seem like incredibly capable knives.

I've been reading here more lately and I'm learning a lot from you all. This is a great forum and I'm just glad to be here

I took a few (crappy) pics of my two new blades.

Nice pair you have to start you out my friend.

I think you'll really enjoy the ESEE 3, I ride mine on a Tek-Lock on my left side as a backup. Don't even notice its there half the time.

The Izulas are an economical knife most anyone to afford to keep several on hand set up for different tasks.

One with your IFAK, one in your pack, one for your back pocket on a lanyard to your belt, one set up with a para shoulder rig, one with a molle clip for your pack or vest, one for belt carry, one with your survival kit, some with scales, some with wraps and others just bare. ... :D .... should I go on? :p

Then there's the other RATs. Once you buy a few, you'll want them all.

But that's great start you have there StangBang. :)

Cool stuff! I've my first few on the way in the post. Seems like the mail takes forever when there's good stuff shipping in.

Thanks for the pics!

I would recommend the micarta handles. I carry mine that way and just throw it in my front pocket.....half of the time I don't even know it's there.

I have the clip on my Izula II and also put it in my pocket - sheath and knife in front pocket, clip on the outside of the pocket/on my jeans. I really like it and is easier to get the knife unsheathed when I need it. If you do this, make sure you are paying attention when you re-sheath it or you could cut your pocket.

You will love the 3 - it is a really good all-around EDC-type of knife.

Thanks for the comments guys, lots of good advice :)

I have plans to get an Izula II soon and will probably get the micarta handles and the clip when I order so I can keep the Izula I as a necker and put the II as an IWB or RFP carry :D

I was lucky enough to handle a 3 before I purchased and I can't wait for it to get here!

those are the very first two i started out with.
except mine are both in DT. very good pair right there. congrats

very nice.
I want a serrated DT 4 as my next ESEE.

And it's been 2 weeks I'm waiting for my 5 to arrive.
