...just arrived. A black Izula, complete with kit. Figured I may as well get the whole shebang since it's my first. Haven't had a chance yet to put it through its paces, but I'm very pleased. Decided to wrap it right away with the paracord that came with it, guts and all, since the skeletonized handle was a little thin for my big mitts.
I can't remember who, but someone here stated that it was imperative that pictures be posted with your first Izula, so, here ya go.
Not quite as pretty as some of the wraps I've seen on here, but it's functional and provided a little more comfort and grip. Wasn't real sure how to end it, so I just wrapped both tag ends around the butt off the knife and cinched them each with a half hitch. Decided I'd throw the whistle cord-lock on there to tidy up the look of it and as a bonus it's convenient to use while around my neck. A better shot of it...
Strung it on some paracord right away and using the other cord-lock proceeded to carry it. Almost immediately took it off, and added the small split ring to keep the knife oriented in one direction without twisting. Then I figured, "Ehhh, might as well add the firesteel right? Why not?"
That's about as far as I've gotten aside from shaving all the hair off my arms and cutting up some paper. Excellent, hair popping edge before I stropped it, hair whittling now. Should prove to be a handy little EDC fixed blade, and with the additions from the kit, make a nice knife that's already with me when I want to go on impromptu hikes.
Can't believe I waited so long to get my first ESEE(RAT), and while it may be my first, I doubt it will be my last.
