Got it last night, right out of the box I knew I was holding something good. Put it through a couple pieces of firewood this afternoon and was quite impressed with the results and the ease with which they were achieved. I'll bring it out in the woods tomorrow and see how it fares against frozen wood. All in all, I really like it.

Great choice! I picked up my first ESEE last week and it was a 6 as well. I am sure you have been warned that it is hard to stick with just one ESEE.;)

Welcome to the forum, nice choice with the 6. I'm anticipating the arrival of the Esee Comprehensive survival Kit that includes an Esee-6. I recently purchased a H.e.s.t. & received it on Friday the 4th. Usps Tracking says that my Esee-3 mil clip point will be here tomorrow :D. It is very hard to own just 1 blade that was made by Esee. Jeff's customer service is top notch & that means alot. We're not just some type of statistics or $ to him he really cares about his consumer base.

Thanks guys, I really understand what you're are saying about only owning one. I'm already looking into another purchase, probably the 3 or the Izula for edc.

Anyways, I'll head out to the woods if I can find my snowshoes, there's about three feet of snow in my backyard.

By the way, what do you guys use to clean off the blade so it doesn't rust? Just wondering if there was a general consensus around here for what works best.

That's one nice looking piece of sharp metal. It won't be long before you have ESEE fever and crave more. Enjoy the knife.

Rem Oil, Tuff Glide, WD-40, mineral oil (for food prep work). Pick your poison. I use Rem Oil.

I've been going back and forth between the 5 and the 6. I went with the 5, frickin' awesome knife. I'm still gonna get the 6 though. Welcome to BF....

Thanks, I usually use jojoba oil on my other tools (planes, chisels, etc.) for rust prevention. I'll use that for now seeing as I've none of the products you mentioned around at the moment.

They do the job on frozen wood. Chopping, you'll need a baton to drive it into wood.
For lubes, WD40, Mil-comm, Slip 2000, Rem oil, Mineral Oil, Royal Blue from LaRue, heck you can use canola oil if you need to.
