My first ESEEs

After much deliberation, I decided to get myself some new knives while on vacation in the US over the summer. I did quite a bit of research, much of it on the Bushcraft UK website, and decided that what I needed was a RAT knife, specifically the RC-4. Then I discovered that RAT didn't exist any more ! But it's okay! They're now ESEE Knives.

With summer approaching I surfed lots of webshops until deciding to use Knifeworks and ordered an ESEE-4. Of course I couldn't order just one knife (I was going on vacation!) so I added an Izula and some Maxpedition stuff.

Props to Knifeworks, all the toys arrived at a Disney World resort in July and my world was full of ESEE goodness!

Here's my babies:

I'm really impressed with ESEE knives and love my new little ones.

Only trouble is, since discovering BladeForums I'm feeling a bit inadequate with just two ESEEs...

I'm thinking a Junglas and a HEST folder are what's needed next year.

I'm definitely with you on the Lite Machete, CRR (though I'm not sure where I'd use it in deepest, darkest England), but I'm not sure that I could justify the ESEE-3 when it's in-between both the -4 and Izula. I've been considering a fixed HEST though.

PS - of course justification is just a word and I know that I'll end up with a -3 eventually!

and you definitely need more than one Izula!

and the 3 is a better slicer than the Izula and the 4, so you need one.

Thanks for the responses!

I've already got plans for another Izula (at least one more!).

Didn't know about the 3's slicing ability though.

I think I'm going to need more money....

I started with those exact two just a couple weeks back. Since then, just got my 3MIL on Monday. ESEE-6 should be here tomorrow.

That's how it starts...."oh...I'm just getting these two."

Get out while you can, but it's probably already too late. There will be more ESEE's in your future.

Congrats on the knives and welcome to addiction.

I know it's all true. Some companies are just too good at what they do: ESEE have hardly flooded the knife world with blades, but they've made a great range and it's looking like they're all essential. Which will leave me with the dilemma of which blade(s) to take.

The really disturbing thing is that I know I'll be buying more than one of each. Ouch!

Get the Junglas!

It's a beast, and I had no idea I was going to love it as much as I do. I have already paid for a custom chopper, and I almost want to cancel the order even though it's too late because I love the Junglas so much.

It's bigger than I thought, and it's a lot of fun. I went and thumped on it today in Kettle Moraine forest in SE Wisconsin. Good times!
