Gents,
I am a bit of an amatuer blacksmith and decided to dip a toe into knifemaking. These are the first knives I've made (in order of completion); I would love any criticism and tips. My feelings are impossible to hurt. All but one of the knives are forged from 1080.
My first, a simple striking knife. Red Heart handle.
Next, a paring knife. the perspective makes the blade look longer than it is (5.5"). I should have beveled the blade a bit more. Poplar handle.
A nakiri, or my attempt at one. I don't have a photo sans tape, but I am decently pleased with its performance, if not its appearance. Poplar handle.
Sort of a Kiridashi type thing. Ugly but it works I suppose.
Pen/desk knife. This one is actually from O-1. Zebra Wood handle.
A simple utility knife. My first after getting a bench grinder. Black palm handle shape leaves a bit to be desired. Blade blued.
My first neck knife. Don't love the surface finish on the metal. Gimping is a tad uneven. Water buffalo horn handle.
Trying to improve on the neck knife. Left most of the forged bevels intact. Ironwood (this stuff is tough as hell to grind) grips. Haven't taken a photo since I put an edge on it.
Finally, another kiridashi type thing. Also with the forged finish. Also pictured without final edge. Zebrawood grips again, mid finish, so excuse the dabs of oil on the metal.
I appreciate everyone taking a look, and would love your thoughts.
