Hello friends,
I'd like to show you an idea of mine. This is the first folder I'm posting at the Gallery.
I am somehow shy to post it here, among all those real knives made by professionals, but I said what the heck, maybe someone will enjoy it. ;)
Thanks for watching.

Now that is way too cool of a customization.

No reason to be shy about that. Great innovation and execution from what I can see.

That's done 100% digitally, right? It's not an actual physical knife you can use? That looks great! What application did you use? The shadows make it look very real!

What gave it away as a digital creation was, what ...the perspective is slightly 'off' between the handle and blade? Good call :)

The giveaway is the whole thing. It's a great digital workup, don't get me wrong, but you just can't fake the real thing. The parts that stand out for me are the mokume bolsters and that gold inlay. The gold is a dead giveaway. Also, the screws in the handle (which is phenomenal!) looks like they're on top of rather than in the scales.

This is the best digital knife I've seen, personally, but your eyes look at real stuff all day every day, so when something is even just a little "off" the eye will pick up on it as a giveaway. It probably took as long to do the digital mockup as it would to make the knife in real time!

That looks absolutely mouthwatering! But have you done a physical mock-up of how that would feel in the hand? Sometimes what looks cool can turn out to feel unweildly.

Nice work. The global lighting direction is different from bolster to bolster, handle, and blade. Make it uniform and then it may appear more realistic.

More than I could achieve!

Thank you all for your comments. I am glad that you like it, despite its flaws. But hey, nobody's perfect. ;)
The knife was inspired from the Spyderco Native, the same size and proportions, just a bit rounded here and there, the lock moved a bit forward and the blade made in full flat grind and with a modified clip point style, but basically it's close to the Native so I think it would feel OK in the hand.
I made it in CorelDraw (for the schematics, I preffer Corel over ACAD, seems to me more versatile), and then I finished it in Photoshop.
Coop, the global lighting is not necessarily an issue. I made several knives in 3D Max and added more light sources. The shadows looked also "unnatural". :(
