Here are some locking folders I made. I studied a range of lockbacks with front / rear / mid lock positions and decided to try a slightly modified version of the lockback which I believe is :-
1) Stronger (than a traditional lockback mechanism) - the lockup bearing points are wider spaced to reduce the "compound" stresses in the locked position.
2) Smoother (than most... ). I wanted it to feel like I was opening a liner locked. They only have a small amount of closing bias.
3) More rigid in the open position. The bearing surfaces and contact areas on the tang area are much larger.
4) Less prone to lock failure due to dirt in the locking notch. Because it is bigger and in the locked position is still "open."
5) Most importantly for me at this point
:lol ... it is easier to get right and is less susceptible to minor imprecision in making the lock.
Here is a link to Knifenetwork forums where I've also explained the mechanism of the lock a bit more.

Maybe I'm just dreaming...
I've taken 2 of these overseas on a recent trip and worked them hard and am happy with the way they perform. I did have to clean them up for the photos because the blades are O1 carbon steel. Anyhow, please have a look and let me know what you guys think. Thanks again. Jason.
