I have been a knife collector of custom fixed blade knives for over 50 years and these are the only floders I have ever had. both knives were give to me from a friend. Skip told me that he purchas
them in the early 70,s. He did not have the boxes they came in. my qusetion is, what is the value of the two knives one in mint condition and the one is in near mint condndition. I am going to say the handles are STAGLON, when did they quite using stag and swich to STAGLON, and what would the value be if they had stag?

The "Pro Trapper" 285UH was sold from 1969-2002. Last MSRP was $34.95. Knives made by Schrade between 1946-1973 would have the "Schrade Walden" tang stamp so knives stamped with Schrade only are 1974 or later.

Genuine stag was never a standard handle material on Schrade knives and is found on SFOs (Special Factory Order) and Limited Editions.

Staglon (delrin) was heavily marketed as being "virtually indestructible" and was the main handle material used from about the 60's on.

If those two knives had factory stag on them they would be worth much more but as it is that pattern is not hard to find and sells on eBay for $20 to $40 or so.

Tip: always check eBays "completed auctions" to get an idea of what knives are selling for and how many are available. That's what I just did to come up with these figures.

Happy Schradeing!
