Hey guys, just thought I'd share this with you, after two failed attempts, I finally got one made successfully.

All three in the picture are made from high carbon railroad spikes, the top two are my first two attempts. First attempt, I ended up making a big lopsided bulge when I tried to start the slot for the drifting process, then the second one, I didn't create a big enough slot, so when I drifted it, I ended up making the sides super thin and it split in half.

Gotta thank Avery and Steve both for having a big hand in this.

RR spike is a great idea for raw materials for a light hawk head. It nearly designs it's self doesn't it. The head is the bit and the point the spike. That's brilliant.

Yep! Or if you turn it around, the head is the hammer and the spike is the bit, all depends on how you make it.

Looks real good for a first try — better than a lot of my early stuff!

Man, I gotta get a forge together and try this....I know I keep saying that, but one day it'll happen....one day. Great first job Kenny, look forward to seeing how it progresses.
