Last year at the Blade show I joined the ABS, My goal is to start working on my Journeyman stamp within the next few years. I have always wanted to start forging and since then I have got some of the equipment to do so. This knife was hand forged by me with the guidence of friend and fellow knifemaker Michael Omachearley, Thanks for ALL your help Michael.
The knife is right at 12" overall length with a 7-1/4" blade from tip to guard, It has a forged in really nice distal taper to it. It is 5160 steel.
The handle is some really nice Sambar stag that I got at the blade show
fittings are 304 stainless and a copper spacer
Hand filed but cap
I still need to etch my makers mark and sharpen this knife but I wanted to get some pictures before it got dark.
This knife will be for sale on my table at the Ohio Classic knife show in October
Thanks for looking and I hope you like it

Beautiful work. Love the job you did matching the butt plate to the lines/grain of the stag. That had to hsve taken a lot of time, but really makes the knife. Well done.

Jim,

Very nice work and for a first, good skills.
Filed butt cap on some sweet stag.
Do post more of your work here.

Looking good. Forging can be a daunting task when you are starting, but with patience, practice, and good techniques, it will eventually become a smooth process.

Hang in there and share more of your work.

Always think "Fit and Finish".
