This is the first knife I forged and other than a little more hand sanding on the blade, its finished. It is 12 1/2" overall with a 7 1/2 blade forged from an old jackhammer bit(which i was told is S7 steel). The handle is desert ironwood and the guard and pommel are brass. Any comments? Be honest and brutal please

It looks good. It should be tough with the S7 steel. I dont even want to show my first forged blade. Bruce

Take care!! Michael

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Nice Knife!!!!
I like the scimitar styled blade.

I agree that the handle looks a tad large, but if it fits your hand that's what matters.

Is the pommel screwed on and if so what did you use to fit the pommel on if you don't mind me asking?
And how did you attach the bolt needed to the tang?

The pommel was a piece of round bar. I drilled into the pommel and cut threads into it with a tap. Then i just threaded the part of the tang that i left sticking out of the handle and screwed it on. Seemed to work ok

Usually people weld a bolt on the end because the tang isn't round enough to thread with a die.

Good job!
