So I'm cruising the forum a little more than 2 weeks ago and find a post asking about Frontiers. What's this, I say? And find a whole lotta info on an Imperial brand I knew nothing about... LT posts pix of hundreds... And they're not shell handles! The very next weekend I went camping with the family, only a little worried that I'd miss a box full of knives at some yard sale! But then last weekend I got to go back to my yardsailing.... and after asking the $64K question: got any knives?, the guy gives me the answer I hope for: yeah I got some around here somewhere... (ya gotta ask) He brings out 8 or 9. And besides the 3 TL-29s and a Walmart-grade plastic-handled Boker lockback, lo and behold there's a Frontier Powderhorn I just had to have -- thanx to this Forum!! I might have passed on it otherwise. It's a 4" premium stockman, pattern #4434 with basically full blades (sheepfoot a little dinged at the tip) and good snap all around, good deep stamp, a little oxidized, but it cleaned up nice. But it's missing something.... the pic below shows clearly the problem....

Anyone got a spare shield they'd be willing to part with?

Thanx,
Barry
PS.... I'm still a little green at posting pics... I hope it shows up in the message (may be there twice!)... should be down there as an attachment somewhere....

NAFix,

Thats the exact knife/model that started me down the road to Frontier madness! Now I find myself hitting flea markets and G&K shows. Passing up tactical folders with pocket clips and thumb studs looking for the elusive Powder Horn. :D

Good grab. Good post.

I do not remember if I have any of those shields or not chances are I do but who knows where?? If I run across one I will let you know. LT

Wow... Thanx Phil.... e-mail is on the way...
I deeply appreciate this gesture!

Anyone who might still be tracking this should go read my new thread, Frontier Saga: Phil, the Knife Genie....
