And I'm pretty stoked about it. Northfield Montana Workhorse Whittler in natural stag. #16.

I've been collecting modern knives and have a few "traditionals" (Buck, Case, Old Timer). But I haven't been as excited about a knife in a while as I am about this one. It is gorgeous and looks better in RL than in pics. The blades are a bit dull, but that is no big deal. I plan to put a better edge on it later this afternoon. Anyhow, pics or it didn't happen, so here is a quick one.

Boy, am I impressed. This is my first GEC, but certainly not my last.

A common response. I've read it before.

Congrats on the new knife. It's excellent.

Nice selection of blades, and a nice handle pattern!
Great knife by a great maker! Last knife you will ever need!
:D:D:D:D
But then who cares about need! Want is the key word here!
(with apologies to Mahatma G.)

That's a great looking knife. I love the stag on that one, and I'm not normally a big fan of stag handles. Post some more pics when you get a chance, I'd like to see how the pile side looks too.

Grants on your first GEC. I'm up to four of them now. The Northfield brand really does have all of the little details that make you go "wow!"

Congrats on the Whittler. We have seen a lot of them featured in the last day or so (for good reason). They very much appear to be robust pieces. Enjoy that one...looks great!

Thanks guys. I'm lovin' it. :D

Mr Rick's #9

I know exactly how you feel.
is the best looking one that I have seen. Someone else mentioned that they liked how the natural lines on the stag paralleled the long pull on the clip blade on his. I had seen his pics on the 'net (and in fact borrowed one for use in the Whatcha got on order? (Traditional Knives Only) thread) and that was a big part of why I picked this particular knife.

Wife took off with the good camera to some meeting that she is attending this afternoon. But here are a few with a lesser device. Sorry for the quality...

Congrats on your first GEC purchase....very nice stag! The #79 pattern is by far my favorite GEC model. It's comfortable in hand, solidly-built, and has a great blade selection. I'm glad this pattern is finally getting its due (Sarah just bought one in Jobillo wood)!

Good stuff! I recently got my first GEC as well off the exchange here (a #48 Northfield slim dog leg trapper with crushed seashell handles). I'm a big fan now, too... really well made. Was disappointed that mine also arrived butter knife sharp but after a little help from Don Seals here on BF, it's now scalpel sharp ;)

Brees, you sure got a nice one for your first GEC, the stag is perfect and the blades on the Work Horse are massive! I don't own many GEC knives, but the ones I do own are extremely well made. OH

Three great blade profiles in one sweet package, hard to beat eh?

I've been using 10 weight Nano-Oil on my pivots, helps to lubricate as well as flush out any residual materials left in there from the making, picked that up from Amazon, comes in a nice dispenser with a metal tipped point that allows you to get the drops down into even the narrowest of pivot areas...

Congrats on that sir, she's a beaut!!!

Nice! I love the stag, and I have not had a GEC in hand yet that did not please.

A wonderful knife that I supposed in 100 years will be just as nice!

Thanks for the pictures - I owe pictures of my Geppetto -

best

Thanks, everyone. I sharpened 2 of my 3 blades to a hair poppin' edge, but the big spear will take another try today. I have it sharp, but not to the level of the other 2 - yet. ;)

Thanks for the recommendation. I've been using Tuf-Glide on my other knives but I'll check into Nano-oil. :)

I really like the Geppetto and would love to see some pics when you get a chance. That one is high on my wish list. :)
