Here are a few pictures of my first GEC. It is a 2014 BF knife that is a second. The scale on the mark side is a little thin. It is a beautiful knife and will make a very nice edc. Thanks to Gunstock Jack.
The stag is beautiful! If you don't mind the asymmetry, having one slab thicker than the other, then it is not even a "second." Are you sure the mark side is thin? I thought the pile side was overly thick! Lol. Such is the nature of stag covers. It even happens with bone.
It is curious how we often take a knife with a "flaw," and then say it is going to be our EDC. It seems like we should take the best knives we own, the ones without flaws, and carry those at all times. I have a couple of GEC knives, one with ebony handles and one with bone, that have very slight flaws. Some people would say they should have been seconds. So I made these my EDC knives, and I carry them all the time. The sentimental value of these knives makes them more precious than my perfect, flawless knives that are carefully stored in my closet.
Enjoy your new EDC, fairhaven. You may find it becomes more important to you than your fanciest, most expensive "safe queen!" And I very much look forward to seeing your next acquisitions!
