My first GEC - I think I hit the lottery?

Well, I finally own a GEC.

I have viewed thousands of photos of GEC's and none have really "spoken" to me, until this one.

I knew that I would eventually own a GEC because many of you speak so highly of them.

As per my usual good luck - this thing is flawless. No pits or chips in the micarta. Blade lockup is 100% - no play in any direction - (I was expecting up and down play after my research). And blade is dead center.

The serial number on this knife is "10" which I think is fitting - seeing that it IS a 10!

Thanks for the encouragement!

The 42 pattern is my favorite GEC. There are plenty of other choices however. All of them I've owned are just outstanding really.

Good looking knife and congratz on your first GEC. Believe me, they become more almost by themself (as we use to say here in Germany) ;)

Congratulations, great-looking knife

I've had good luck with GEC. Sharpness is always lacking but everything else is great. Congrats on a nice knife.

Very cool! I love GECs. I used to be really into slipjoints and over time just fell out of it. Got all of my old GECs back recently and then some, and I found the spark! If you can find one I definitely recommend the #15 pattern in any configuration. You know you want another GEC! Trust me when I tell you that, I have 3 15s!

Looks like a winner to me! I like every little detail on this one and the photos are great as well. You nicely captured the 'grain' of the micarta in the third pic. I know from experience that it is challenging to get good pics of that dark maroon color.

Thanks everyone!

This knife just feels great in the hand. Now, which GEC slipjoint to buy?!
