My First GEC

I just had to post pictures of my first and possibly only GEC. It is such a magnificent piece that I no longer feel the need to keep searching for that knife to pass on to my future (hopefully) sons.

It's the GEC #57 Gepetto Whittler Prototype. I'm so afraid of losing it that it's a Sunday only carry. The Wharncliffe in Buffalo really caught my eye and I had the darndest time locating one so I had to suck it up and grab the Prototype when I found it.

Anyways, some pictures of my find. Sorry for the poor quality of the images.

Thanks for looking!

Pattern premiere production. Lovely. Good choice, although I doubt it will be your last... They are very addictive!

very cool -- I like the looks of that a lot and have been considering picking up a whittler or carver pattern - had not seen this version of one before.

I notice in your original post you mention passing on your knife to your future (hopefully) sons. Sons being plural, it would indicate the need for more than one GEC?

Great looking knife. It will mean more to your Son(s) if they see you use it daily than if its only in use on Sundays, IMHO.

Great knife. I really like my Halfwhitt (two bladed version). I agree with pipedreams308. It will mean more to your son if you carry it everyday. Don't be afraid of losing it. It's a great pocketable knife, but it's got enough weight that I think you'd notice if it went missing...

There's a definite contradiction when you said: ................. possibly only GEC and then said; .........sons. That's gonna call for at least two knives anyway.

Nice looking knife. Post pictures of the others when you get them.:)

Thank you all for the kind words. The way I phrased it, I guess I do need another GEC.

I suppose the fun part will be looking.

I'll add my "congrats, and well done" to the other voices. The wharncliffe Gepetto is a fine knife indeed.

Beautiful knife, congratulations. Your lucky, it would be hard to pass one knife to more than one son. Now you can act as if you never made that silly statement about not searching for "THAT" knife. You will own another GEC Mr. Shepard man. LOL
Welcome aboard!

I have the very similar Wrangler in Buffalo Horn. The gent i purchased from threw in a nice leather sleeve (due to a mix up in orders), so it's my (mostly) daily carry at work, and I don't worry about beating up those lovely horn covers.

Very sweet knife. You and your son (whichever winds up with it) are sure to like it. Yes, make use of it; he will cherish it forever. I have a Schrade 34OT that was my Dad's and it makes me smile every time I pick it up. See if you can't find a nice model 66 jack for the other son.

Wow that is a real beauty. Those scales are incredible! They made a great decision going with the small clip there instead of a pen. It looks like this deserves more than Sunday use, Shepard Man! And more photos too.

I'm currently waiting on my first GEC; a #15 single clip blade in Ebony. Major disappointment when it wasn't in Friday's mail run. Tick-tock, tick-tock.

I'd love to see them build the Huckleberry/boy's knife in Buffalo Horn too, also with the spear blade. That'd be something else.

Congratulations on a very nice knife :) I see the 'one and only' part has already gone out of the window! :D
