Hey guys, today a friend in Germany sent me a knife made by Hartkof in Solingen. It is 100 layer damascus, 440c. The scales are olive wood. Thanks for looking!

Thanks Mike! I really like it. I think it will be a Sunday carry gentleman's folder. It is actually my first damascus anything, but Im very impressed with it.

I wish I never got into traditional knives. That is one BEAUTIFUL knife. My wallet hates you.

^ I agree about the blade combo. Maximum utility for size, weight, simplicity etc. Like the damascus too, one of these days I might have to try it out myself.

Brian, was going to agree about the Bantam connection. Never owned a Damascus blade myself but this one looks like the knife to beat...sweet

Wow, I like that one a lot! I really like olive wood (although I don't have it on a knife), and as others have mentioned the blade combination is sweet.

What's its length, closed (sorry if I missed this)?

Congratulations!

The closed length on it 4" I did pay for this one :) I thought while I was in Kenya it would be a good opportunity to experience some other knives around the world. I have a good friend in Muenster who recommended Hartkopf so I took a gamble on it. Im very pleased with it. This is one of the few knives I don't plan on carrying much, I just like to look at it :) Thank you all for the kind words.

Great knife, I love it! I have a couple with olive wood and it is really distinctive. Combined with a Damascus blade and a bottle opener, it's a winner. Congrats

Very nice knife. I have a thing for damascus, and have been dipping my toe into the traditional waters. Great combo. I just bought a Boker traditional with damascus blade, made in Soligen, and love it.
