Well Ive been wanting to do a hamon for a long time. I like the looks of them but prefer non shiney blades so I never tried to do one. I knew the basic steps but got some advice from Bill, Tackett, and a couple posted threads. Again, I didnt want a shiney blade so I just tried a few different things. First of all, I see why people charge what they do for Hamons! They are a biiiiaaaatch to finish. I hand sanded mine. All in all it took me two nights after wirk to get it the way I wanted it. I wrote down the process and should be able to cut the time down alot in the future. I actually tried five different methods of etching having to resand after each one so I could start over.

I like the black hamon but I wanted more of a whispy line. I think I made the "fingers" too thick with the clay so I will try a different method on the next one. All in all Im super stoked with it!

That hamon is beautiful.

I also like cloudy irregular hamon more but thats very nice...

Nice work...

Me too! I think I know how to get one so I will try on a future knife. This one has a cool shadow hamon above it that you cant really see in the pic.

THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE WAY TO SKIN A CAT BRO, U DONE VERY WELL

That is freakin fantastic! So, once you jack your price up on that style of blade, I should be ready to order. :D

Cool. I really like Hamon knives. A 6 to 8" blade with a very vivid hamon in 3/16th's would be awesome. Hint, Hint.

Damn, that a nice hamon...

Making a dark and noticeable hamon like that fits right in with your knife style in my opinion.

That will look fantastic if you handle it in bog oak or ironwood.

Ive been thinkng about wood for it. I thinink it would look good with something that has black streaks. Maybe Koa or red mallee burl. We will see.
