hey guys whats up

Honeslty i have never been so disappointed with a Tanto Blade then today.
I tried doing something that i do everyday but with different knives, but today i'm like lets use a Tanto Blade. My mistake was that i'm very open minded.

So long story short i love apples, and cutting off pieces while i eat is one of those things i have been doing ever since i was like 10.

Basically the Tanto blade is a disappointment while eating apples. I just felt i had to let all of Blade forums know. anyways take care and whatever you do don't try to cut an apple with a Tanto blade, Did i mention you will be DISAPPOINTED.

can you alborate on why?

slices very uneven due to it being a tanto blade. The blade is just way to thick for it to properly cut strips. Thats why im glad my ronin is there. Now i wonder did samurai and the ninjas encounter the same problem back in the day. :D

Tantos are for piercing and self-defense. Not so good for other tasks. I think traditional Japanese swords have a more curved tip with a sharp point. The "tanto" chisel shape seen now is more like that when sword tips broke. Although those more knowledgeable than I might be able to elaborate.

I should come back after April Fools.

For anyone taking this seriously, there are a variety of "tanto" blade shapes. Tactical is right; the original Japanese version was more like a Scandinavian blade shape. The "Americanized tanto" has the angled tip. Some tanto are chisel-ground. These will not slice as easily unless the grind is on the user's strong side.

I carry a Chris Reeve tanto Sebenza which has a hollow v-ground main edge and a convex forward edge. It will slice just as well as my regular Sebenzas.

I also have a Strider tanto SnG. It has a flat v-grind and a minimal flat forward bevel at the tip. It also slices just fine.

Somebody must have been slicing hardwood apples. :p

yeah i thought april fools too, i have used my EKI SOCFK tanto for edc and utility for over a year and it did fine, even w/a CG, not to mention something like a spydie lum w/a almost "V" grind, or a tanto seb as ya say.

I just finished cutting up an apple with a 4 millimeter thick tanto. The knife worked like a charm.

Nice looking blade bro. This is not a accurate comaprison, because i do not use a cutting board, and cut one slice at a time while eating it:rolleyes: . I challenege you to a apple slicing duel :D. Seriously cool knife though.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ... spectacular! :p

What i've been waiting to hear is what model he was using in the first place. Saying "tanto" isn't saying much.

I'm sorry it was a power glide tanto. I know the knife is pretty cheap, but you know i love the way it opens. anyways take care
